And for owners Vanessa and Matt Dunbabin, a thirst to remain creative and continue improving is reaping the ultimate rewards. M otivation and hard work certainly aren’t lacking for Vanessa and Matt Dunbabin. It might be instilled in them from a farming background, but when it comes to keeping Bangor Vineyard Shed on the national stage as a premium hospitality experience, the couple continue to tick the boxes. Twelve months after winning the country’s best Tourism Wineries, Distilleries, and Breweries category at the Australian Tourism Awards, Bangor went back-to-back in March to prove it can evolve and stay on top of current trends. It is this feature which arguably resonates with Vanessa the most, who remains as driven as ever to keep Bangor at the forefront of Australia’s tourism landscape.

I guess it contributes to the whole image and feel of Bangor when people know that we’re providing an Australian standard in tourism and winery experiences,” Vanessa says beaming with pride. “It is just fantastic recognition for our hard- working team, we’ve put a lot of effort in over the last year to deliver one of the best tourism experiences in Australia. One of the things that really does inspire you to do is to keep being creative and keep thinking of how to improve your business and come up with creative ideas around new product offerings and services, so it’s a real inspiration in terms of being innovative and new and being very incredibly customer focused and experience focused. “The thing about the tourism awards application processes is it’s incredibly rigorous. So when you start the next year’s application, there’s very little that you can actually re-use from the previous year because you need to be very focused on what you’ve done in that last 12 months. It’s like in any industry, but certainly something we have experienced in farming, is that if you stand still, you’re actually going backwards.
