Jonathon Root

From the Liquor and Gaming branch

updates that commenced on 1 July 2023.

The Commission has made minor amendments to improve clarity of some requirements and to implement several miscellaneous changes. These changes take effect from 29 April 2024 and will replace the Code issued from 1 July 2023. Individual licensees were notified by letter of the updated Code via email sent on 15 April 2024. A link to the updated Code (version 1.1) is available on the Liquor and Gaming website.

Unpaid annual liquor licence fees

Annual liquor licence fees are due on or before 31 March each year and incur a 10 per cent fee for late payment. If a licensee has not made full paid by 30 April, the Commissioner for Licensing will commence suspension proceedings. This may lead to cancellation of the liquor licence. While most liquor licence holders have paid the fee, the following deadlines and actions apply if payment has not been received:: • 30 April 2024: Final date for full payment, including additional fee of 10% • 6 May 2024: Issue a letter advising that the liquor licence will be suspended on 13 May 2024 if the licence fee remains unpaid • 13 May 2024: Liquor will not be able to be sold from this date. Tasmania Police will be advised of premises where the liquor licence has been suspended • 31 May 2024: Issue a cancellation letter to all licence holders who have not paid the licence fee. Cancellation will take effect at the close of business 31 May 2024. Tasmania Police will be advised of premises where the liquor licence has been cancelled
