number of accommodation packages. You use these in promotions for your customers.

The world’s biggest sporting event in 2024 will be the Paris Olympics, which begins Friday July 26 and wraps up August 11. Below are some thoughts and ideas for you to discuss with your staff on how you might capitalise on this festival of sport. • Themed Decor: Decorate your establishment with Olympic-themed banners, flags, and posters to create a festive atmosphere. I searched the Internet for the best places to buy Olympic banners etc. I found: https://www.ebay.com/b/Olympics- Banners/27291/bn_16939561 • Social Media Campaigns: Run social media campaigns promoting your establishment as the go- to spot for watching the Olympics, using hashtags related to the games. Plan to begin your promotions at least four weeks before the commencement of the Paris Olympics. Swimming is usually the first major sport of the Olympics and runs for about seven days. Think-tank with your staff about how to capitalise on these events as Australia always expects to win many swimming medals. • Trivia Nights: Host regular Olympic-themed trivia nights where patrons can test their knowledge about the Olympic Games and win prizes. To research for questions and for Trivia Prizes I recommend a copy of “CHASING GOLD”. You can also use it for prizes. It is the ‘first ever’ book about Olympians to contain QR codes allowing you to read and watch newsreels, interviews, event replays and historic Olympic moments. (Disclaimer: I have to admit…I am biased…as I am the Author of CHASING GOLD! :) • Involve a Travel Agency as your partner in your 2024 Olympic Promotion in a two-month long promotion. Their part of the deal is to provide a major travel Holiday experience and several minor travel experiences. You use these in promotions for your customers. Your partner’s benefit is being included them in all your promotions.

• Involve a Movie Theatre in your 2024 Olympic Promotion. Their part of the deal is to provide a 50- 100 free tickets to their movie theatre. (Remember most times there a many empty seats in theatres.) • Local Athlete Spotlights: Showcase local athletes. If they are previous Olympians that is preferred. But, if not, try calling successful local sports people. Perhaps print posters featuring them to create a sense of community pride. • Charity Fundraisers: Organize charity fundraisers or donation drives in support of Olympic-related causes or local sports programs. • Team Spirit Contests: Encourage patrons to dress up in the colours of their favourite Olympic teams and host contests for the best-dressed group. • Olympic-Themed Cocktails: Create a menu of cocktails named after famous athletes or Olympic events, adding a creative twist to your drink offerings. Remember “Some people make things happen…some people watch things happens…and some wonder “What happened?” Which category do you fall into?
