CONCEPT NARRATIVE
In Albuquerque, New Mexico, diverse cultures, authentic art and dynamic traditions have shaped its centuries-old story. Old Town is a popular destination known for it’s original Pueblo- Spanish-style architecture, with flat-roofed buildings and soft contours of adobe mirroring the Southwestern landscape. The largest event in Albuquerque happens each October as the sky is filled with hundreds of vibrant hot air balloons. Visitors travel from near and far to witness this exciting experience. Each year the Embassy Suites by Hilton Albuquerque hosts thousands of visitors from all over the globe who travel to get a taste of the unique culture found in Albuquerque. The city’s landscape, historic town and sites from the hot air balloons are the inspiration for this hotel renovation. Views from the hot air balloon inspire the neutral color palette including warm and fresh neutrals. The roads and rivers influence the balance between organic and soft angular form in carpet patterns. The balloons woven basket and unique designs will direct the selections of textiles for upholstery and wall finishes. The renovation will take a modern approach while decorative details will enrich the design and connect the interior to the culture of Old Town with its bright pops of color and patterns.
