box, representing the grave, opens, and a yellow, a red, a black, and a white crayon jump to meet the magnet. It will be' so when Christ comes— some from every race will have accepted Him as Saviour, and their bodies will be raised from the dead.. But, see, four of the crayons did not rise to meet the magnet. They represent the people who have died without receiving the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. Remember that Jesus said: “There shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left” (Lk. 17:34). As the magnet comes near the bed, one crayon jumps up to the magnet. Again, Jesus said: “ Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left” (Matt. 24:40). “ A t the m ill; the one shall be taken, and the other left” (Matt. 24:41). Too, we find that as the magnet passes over the chair, one is taken and the other left. I will wrap these cray ons in this white cloth, which reminds us of the white robes of heaven. The time will come when the unsaved dead will be raised, too, and with the un saved living will appear before the Great White Throne judgment. These who are unsaved will be cast later into the outer darkness and into the lake of fire. W e will wrap these in this black cloth, reminding us of the outer darkness. Be ready for the coming of Christ by accepting Him as Saviour, “ for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Outline and Exposition I. T he T ransfiguration (2-4) T HE T IM E of the transfiguration, as. Luke tells us, was as He prayed (Lk. 9:29), and the place was “ apart,” probably on Mount Hermon. Perhaps the three disciples were privileged to behold this scene because they entered a bit more fully into His program than did the others. Studying this lesson, we should not over look the truth that prayer brings the soul into the presence of the Lord, and that the closer we come to Him, the greater will be the “ transfiguration” •(cf. 2 Cor. 3:18). But it will not be until we see the Lord “face to face” that the complete change into His image will be ours (cf. 1 John 3:2, 3). The transfiguration was a picture of the coming kingdom (cf. v. 1). The glory which was seen was that of the absolutely sinless soul of Jesus shining through the veil of flesh and revealing the amazing beauty of His inherent character (v. 3). Though He was God, it was not the glory and beauty of His deity— the Only Begotten could not be transfigured. But it was the glory and beauty of His spotless and holy humanity. The scene was also a revelation of what believers will be one day, even to their bodies (cf. Phil. 3 :20, 21; 1 John 3:1-3). 9 :2-10 Devotional Reading: Hebrews 1:1-9.

a small tack for a handle in the top of the upper rotating section. This resembles a Palestinian mill.) Lesson: As we think of the resurrection of Christ, it is well for us to remember His words: “ Because I live, ye shall live also” (John 14:19). These eight crayons I hold in my hand remind me of the four races of earth, the red, the yellow, the black, and the white people. W e will place them in this little box to represent those who will have died before Christ returns to earth. The other eight crayons are like people who w ill be living when Christ comes. I will put two red ones in this little bed. The yellow ones I will put under these shrubs. The white ones will occupy the chair, and the black ones will stand by this little mill. This magnet reminds me of Christ at His coming for Christians, dead and alive. The W ord of God says: “The dead in Christ shall rise first” (1 Thess. 4:16). The Mark 9:2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into a high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. , . . 3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. ... 4 And there appeared unto them Elias witn Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. 5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. . . . . I , . 7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them : and a voice came out of the |cloud, say ing, This is my beloved Son: hear him. 8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves. . ' . 9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. . . . . 10 And they kept that saying with them selves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean. Golden Text: “ This is ray beloved Son: hear him” (Mk. 9:7). BLACKBOARD LESSON
