How do you secure the right placement for you? Our CareersPlus and Employer Relations team will help you: ■ Explore different placement options ■ Connect with employers through a range of events and bootcamps ■ Support you to complete your applications ■ Prepare you for interviews and assessment centres ■ Handle application outcomes. Whether you want to ask a question about writing applications, or wish to explore your placement year options, our dedicated careers team are here to offer their support both online and in person. Through our online careers platform, (which you gain access to once you enrol), you will be able to book onto workshops, webinars and events which will give you an overview of all aspects of the placement year application process, from creating your CV to preparing for interviews and assessment centres. You can also book 1-2-1 placement year careers appointments to receive personalised advice tailored to you. The CareersPlus and Employer Relations team can also help with your personal development, such as how to make a great impression with employers, career decision- making, and how to get the most out of your university experience when applying to placement year opportunities. Where possible, we will also help you to access advice from returning placement year students, our ‘Career Ambassadors’, who can share their tips for success. However, the support doesn’t stop at the start of your placement. The CareersPlus and Employer Relations team will check

Gaining practical experience during your degree can help you stand out from the crowd when it comes to applying for graduate roles. Employers often look for workplace experience as part of their recruitment process, and many make graduate offers to students as a direct result of placements, so this can be a great way to kick start your career. Our four-year BSc Accounting & Finance with Placement Year and BSc Management with Placement Year provide the chance to apply your skills in a real work setting while learning about a particular industry. You will spend your third year doing a work placement and return to Warwick for your final year of studies. Why should you consider a placement year? ■ Professional placements can be valued by graduate employers ■ You have the chance to try out a career ■ You can gain essential workplace skills ■ You can use it as a springboard into a graduate scheme offer ■ You can begin professional training if your employer supports this ■ Your new practical skills will help your learning in your final year of study ■ You can also opt to do an overseas work placement in your year abroad for the BSc International Management.
