A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF Allyaa Being a university student gives you the freedom to manage your life. You can have the same academic timetable as your peers in the same course, yet your personal schedule can be significantly different based on interests and commitments. From studies to extracurriculars, I love how I spend my week as a WBS student.
SUNDAY Sunday is more relaxing than any other day as I call it my reset day. I spend the morning cleaning, organising my space and doing laundry, followed by a leisurely brunch. The afternoon is for personal well-being as I go for a long walk in the nearby park, listening to music that lifts my spirits. Later, I review the week’s notes and plan for the upcoming academic week, ensuring I am ready to tackle new challenges. The evening is reserved for relaxation, indulging in a good book before going to bed. A week in my life can be different from week to week as I never stop exploring. Whether it is volunteering, attending concerts or playing squash, there is always something new to experience. However, I believe it is important to strike a balance between studies and getting the fun in life!
MONDAY I start my day with a cup of coffee and read a book during my bus ride to university. This small ritual keeps me composed and ready to start the day. After my seminar, I go to the prayer hall to perform my prayers, appreciating the University’s commitment to providing safe and comfortable spaces for different religious practices. Afterwards, I head to the library to go through lecture materials. It’s convenient having everything within reach, making the campus a well-rounded environment for both academic and personal well-being. In the evening, I attend the Association of Malaysian Economics Undergraduates’ society meeting, where we brainstorm new ideas and work on ongoing tasks.
WEDNESDAY Midweek brings a balance of work and relaxation. With no classes on Wednesday, it is a day for myself to recap lessons, play sports or socialise. My favourite activity is playing netball with my fellow members of the Warwick Malaysian Society. The serene 10-minute walk to Lakeside gives me time to reflect, romanticise life and recharge. After netball, I go to the library to do seminar materials required for the week before ending the day with an inspiring Islamic sharing session at the Faculty of Arts building.
FRIDAY Friday involves four hours of lectures, from 10am to 4pm. Afterwards, a CareersPlus networking event takes up my evening, where I connect with industry professionals and gain insights into potential career paths. The night ends with a movie marathon with friends in our common area, a delightful way to transition into the weekend. SATURDAY Weekends are my wildcards. Some Saturdays are for exploration, travelling across the UK or visiting my friends at other universities. I also love exploring the local areas around Coventry, Leamington Spa and Warwickshire. Some of my favourite places are Warwick Castle for its scenic views, Coombe Abbey Park for a cosy picnic and FarGo Village for unique, creative handmade crafts. But sometimes, I just stay at home, enjoying my alone time, grocery shopping or baking with my housemates. Baking is a shared interest of ours, creating good memories over a tray of freshly baked cookies.

TUESDAY Tuesday consists of only one lecture at noon. This is also the day I cook for my housemates, as we follow a cooking rotation system. I find this system works for me as I don’t have to worry about meal prep. Experimenting with cuisines such as Malaysian, Japanese and Western has become a delightful hobby of mine. After class, I head home to prepare the ingredients before going for a run around my neighbourhood. Once I have washed up, I start cooking and we have dinner while sharing laughs and stories from our days.
THURSDAY Thursday is my busiest day, with three seminars back-to-back. I spend most of my time at the university library preparing for next-day lectures, seminars and assignments. Despite the packed schedule, Thursdays feel rewarding and productive as I accomplish so much in a single day.
