Introduction : We are all more or less ambitious* Some desire to be wealthy, some popular, some to “get by” with as little effort as possible. But the Chris tian’s ambition is high and holy: Whether in life or in death, he longs to be well pleasing in God’s sight. I. The Foundation — Faith. 1. Source of faith—God (5.). 2. Manifestation of faith (6, 7). a. “Cheerful confidence” (6, Weymouth). b. Daily w a lk .(7).. 1. For a spiritual body (1). 2. For eternal fellowship with the Lord (8). III. The Superstructure-Practice. 1. To be well-pleasing to God (9). 2. To preach the gospel (Rom. 15: 20 ). 3. To enter upon the ministry of reconciliation (18). Conclusion: The prospect of eternal fellowship with Christ will affect one’s daily life, will make him ambitious to please God in all things and eager to share with others the good news of the gospel. This is an ambition worth devel- oping^E . N. — ° — Some Sermon Subjects in the Old Testament In Leviticus The Ever-burning Fire (6:13). Strange Fire and Its Consequences (10: ■ 1 , 2 ). Like One of the Family About seven years ago, a friend of ours—a returned mis sionary from China—was stay ing in our home. On Christmas, he gave us a subscription to your magazine. Being a Christian worker, I found it an invaluable help. Twice I have let my sub scription lapse, I am sorry to say, and each time I have felt almost as if one of the family were absent. I have cut out il lustrations and helps, and I have them pasted in scrap books. Money could not buy them. -A From Audalusia, Ala.
