“Be ye •stedfast, unmovable” (1 Cor. 15:58). “Be not afraid, only believe” (Mk. 5:36). a. Be definite. The approach to the Christ life may be grad ual. The decision must be definite. b. Be trustful. “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith” (Eph. 3:17). The Christ life will not be complete in us, but we must trust Him and “grow in grace.” c. Be comprehensive. Make no reservations in your heart. Anything knowingly reserved' will break communion. d. Be final. Settle the matter once and forever. There should be need of no re-con- secration; not, “Lord, I give myself to Thee again,” but rather, “Lord, I am Thine- now and forever; let me never doubt or be unmindful of this.” There must be constant filling of the Spirit. There must be constant submitting to God’s will. There must be .constant communion maintained by keeping the life free from sin. There must be confession and renquncing of sins as God re veals them. There must be constant trust in God. e. Be steadfast. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood” (Eph. 6:12). Satan will try. his most subtle temptations; but there is victory through Jesus’ name. f. Be joyful. “Rejoice in the Lord alway” (Phil. 4:4). 1. Christ will give the fullness of the Spirit. “Behold, all things are become new” (2 Cor. 5:17). 2. Christ will give light. “In him was life; and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4). 3. Victory over sin. “Sin shall not have dominion over you” (Rom. 6:14).. “Free from the law of sin and death” (Rom. 8 :2). Free through Jesus’ power. See John 8:34, 36. 4. Power for service. “But ye shall receive power . . . and ye shall be witnesses” (Acts 1 : 8 ). “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you; ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done un to you” (John 15:7). 5. Power in prayer.

ror which would rob me of my faith or warp my spiritual understanding. Before accepting any new religious views or phi losophies of life, I will subject them, and those who are seeking to propagate them, to the teachings of the Word of God (1 John 4:1-3; Matt. 7:16-23; Gal. 1:6-9; 2 Pet. 2:1; 1 Thess. 5:21; 2 Tim. 3:1, 2, 5, 7, 13-17; 1 Tim. 6 :20, 21; Col. 2 :8). Section Two 1. I have accepted and confessed Je sus Christ, thè living Son of God, as my Redeemer and Saviour. Because I be lieve in the validity of His Word, I know that I am now a reborn child of God, hav ing passed from death to life (John 1 :12; 3:3-8; 5:24; Rom. 8:14-17; 1 John 5:1, 13; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-10; Matt. 10:32), 2. I not only have accepted Christ as my Sin-bearer and Saviour, but have also made Him Lord and King of my life, unconditionally presenting myself, my tal ents, my possessions, my future, my all, wholly to Him as a living sacrifice. From this day on, I am determined that it will be my chief aim in life to live Christ and to glorify God in all that I am, -say, . and do. Because I love Christ, I will seek to know His will, that I may do it, thus bringing my life into obedience to Him (Col. 1:18; Rom. 12:1, 2; 1 Cor. 6:19, 20; Phil. 1:21; Matt. 5:16; 1 Pet. 2:9; John 15:10-17; 1 John 2:3-6; 5:2, 3; Jas. 1:5). . 3. After an earnest and honest search into my heart, to see if there is anything there that is displeasing to God, I have confessed and renounced all known sin, and the evil habits and inconsistencies of life, which I feel would dishonor and bring reproach on my Lord (Psa. 139:23, 24; Heb. 12:1, 2; 1 Thess. 5:22; 2 Cor. 7:1; Psa. 51). 4. ,1 appreciate the fact that my only hope for success in the Christian life de pends upon a living, vital union with Christ. I will, therefore, repeatedly re mind myself that I am no longer my own, but that I am bought with a price. I am giving myself over to my Lord as His bondslave. I now belong to Him, and He has promised to live in me. I will pray for the renewing of my mind, that all my thinking may center in Him. Christ must be the dynamic of my life if I am to measure up in any degree to the dec laration which I am now making. I de termine to count all things but loss, that I may win Christ and be acceptable to Him (Gal. 2:20; Eph. 3:14-21; Col. 2:9, 10; 3:1-3; Phil. 3:7-14; 1 Cor. 2:1, 2). 5. Desiring to obey Christ’s command to spread His gospel, I purpose to confess the Lord Jesus Christ before the world, as I have opportunity, earnestly praying for and striving to win others to Christ. It shall be my plan to make and culti vate friends, that I may learn of their needs and may seek to point them to the One who is able to meet those needs. God helping me, I resolve that, whenever I be come intimate enough with a person to be justified in choosing my own subject 'of conversation, I will seek to lovingly and tactfully present Christ as a Friend whom he should know (2 Cor. 12:9; Dan. 12:3; John 1:41, 42; Prov. 11:30; Jas. 5: 20; Mk. 5:19). knees before God and settle the matter then and there. Give God time to search each heart. Close by softly singing “Have Thine Own Way, Lord” while the young people are still on their knees. June 14, 1931 The Soul-Winner’s Faith Any man or woman who desires to serve as a w-inner of souls must be cer tain of his own faith in Christ. We are suggesting as the basis for the discussion of this lesson a personal declaration to be made by every young person who de sires to enter the service of Christ as a soul-winner. The points should be as signed to various members of the society, to be studied during the week preceding the meeting. All references should be carefully examined, and a summary of the material should be presented during the discussion time. The following personal statement is not intended to serve as a creed, but rath er as a challenge; not as a system of doctrine, but as a statement of decisions. It suggests some of the essentials of the gospel, which should be clearly understood by all who attempt to bring others into definite contact with the Lord Jesus Christ. D iscussion O utline Section One 1. I sincerely believe the Bible, con sisting of all the books of the Old and the New Testaments, to be the superhu manly inspired Word of God. I hold it all to be profitable for doctrine, for re proof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16, 17; 2 Pet. 2:9; Matt. 1:18-25; Lk. 1:26-38; 1 Tim. 3:16 ; 1 Cor. 15:3; Isa. 53:3-12; John 1: 29; 1 Pet. 2:24; 3:18; Rom. 5:6-8). 2. I believe that Jesus Christ was God manifest in the flesh; that He was con ceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. I believe that He lived a sinless life; and that He died on the cross as an atonement for my sin (John 1:1-3, 18; 5:17-23; 10:30, 38; 17:5; Col. 2:9; Matt. 1:18-25; Lk. 1:26-38; Rom. 5: 6 - 8 ) . 3. I believe that Christ arose from the dead on the third day in a physical body, and that He ascended into heaven, where He is making intercession for me as my Advocate, and from whence He is com ing again to take His own unto Himself. (1 Cor. 15:3, 4, 14-20; Acts 3:13-15; Matt. 28:5-9; John 20:1-31; 1 John 2:1; Heb. 7:25; John 14:3; 1 Thess. 4:16, 17; Acts 1 : 11 ) . . 4. I believe that man is sinful by na ture and ;by choice, and that the only way of salvation is through a personal accept ance and public confession of the Lord Je sus Christ as Sin-bearer and Saviour (Rom. 3:10, 23; 6:23; 10:9, 10, 13; Acts 4:12; 1 John 5:12; Isa. 55:6, 7). 5. Realizing that correct doctrine is essential to right living, I will make it a point to guard against any form of er
