AnnualReport 2024

Dear Friends & Supporters,

As I look back on Greenbelt's many achievements in 2024, I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our many friends, partners, donors, and volunteers across the region. Thanks to your collective commitment to our mission, we celebrated a number of significant milestones throughout the year in every aspect of our work. Together, we are making a real difference in protecting the natural landscapes and resources that make Essex County such a truly remarkable place. In total, we conserved 447 acres of land, including notable projects Mount Hunger, Essex/ Gloucester; Baldpate Hill, Georgetown; and Viburnum Woods, Haverhill. Another highlight was the opening celebration of Artichoke River Woods in West Newbury. Each of these newly conserved acres built on our past successes, expanding greenbelts in every instance! As always, our stewardship team did an outstanding job managing our properties, ensuring they were well-maintained and accessible year-round. They also made several key improvements to

enhance both wayfinding and safety across various sites. In addition, our community engagement efforts expanded to more than 90 free public programs, strengthening connections with diverse audiences throughout the county. Amidst all of this activity, we also went through a leadership transition, with Kate Bowditch retiring from her role as Greenbelt’s President after a remarkable six-year tenure. My sincere thanks to Kate for her outstanding leadership, as well as to our Board of Directors for their steadfast support and encouragement since I assumed office in September. Thank you again for your ongoing support and dedication to Greenbelt!
