CYBER LAB

EAGLE EYE INTELLIGENCE

Defending Against Tomorrow’s Threats Often dubbed by students as the “Hacker Lab,” Embry-Riddle’s Cyber Lab offers 24 workstations where students gain hands-on experience and learn about how information and systems can be compromised, practice cyber defense techniques against real-world cyberattacks and hack to perform penetrative tests on computer operating systems and applications. Students in the Cyber Lab develop skills in identifying, assessing and mitigating real-world vulnerabilities. Students reverse engineer malware to understand how to defend against computer viruses and worms, learn how to perform forensic examinations of computer systems and identify hidden files to capture digital evidence. Students also engage in identification, collection and analysis of information for Open-Source Collection and Analysis (OSINT). Department-supported and faculty- mentored Cyber Clubs meet in the Cyber Lab to discuss cybersecurity challenges, practice for competitions, work on external projects or create their own research or investigations using various versions of Linux, open-source software tools and industry-standard access control and security software.

Providing Actionable Intelligence Founded in 2002 alongside the Global Security & Intelligence Studies program, Eagle Eye Intelligence members monitor, discuss and report on contemporary geopolitical issues. The student-led organization researches and reports on conflicts around the globe, continuously aiming to provide actionable intelligence and analysis. Eagle Eye Intelligence is driven by principles of continuous growth, non-partisanship, interdisciplinary perspectives, global awareness and professional development among members. In this organization, students gain real-world applicable experience and knowledge within the diverse fields of global security and intelligence while forming valuable connections with their peers and faculty alike. During the academic year, Eagle Eye Intelligence publishes its findings in weekly long-form intelligence articles. Crafting these articles allows members to enhance their written communication skills, refine their editing abilities, conduct rigorous analysis of geopolitical issues and prepare for their careers after graduation.
