The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has laid numerous drug and weapon charges against a 50-year-old resident of Rockland. Officers conducted a search warrant at a residence on Laurier Street on Thursday, January 16, and seized quantities of suspec- ted cocaine and methamphetamine tablets, while also finding items linked with drug trafficking. They also found a stun gun and machete. One person, Luc Decarie, was arrested at the scene and charged with: two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; possession of a Schedule 1 subs- tance (two counts); two counts of operation of a vehicle while prohibited under the Cri- minal Code; possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime (under $5,000); and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking. Decarie was released from custody fol- lowing a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal and is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 12, 2025.
