MARCH 2023

SPRING-CLEANING JOURNEY AN EMOTIONAL, MENTAL, AND PHYSICAL EXPERIENCE

The spring season is on the horizon, and many people will use the next few weeks to start their spring-cleaning projects. They may go through their closets to get rid of old clothes or do a deep-cleaning of the entire house. Whatever project they tackle, they hope to refresh their home and make it pristine for the new season. I’ve never been much of a spring-cleaner myself. My wife and I are about as clean as we can be. We clean as we go whenever we make a big meal or tackle another project likely to make a mess. However, in 2020, we performed massive cleanouts at home and the office. It was much needed, but I didn’t expect it to be as emotionally and mentally draining as it was. One of the points in my life that made me feel like a “real adult” was when I started to lose family members close to me. I had to go through their things, deciding who gets what and what we needed to keep. Doing this made me evaluate what I had myself. Then, everything slowed down due to the pandemic, and I had an opportunity to go through my own things at home and work. Now, you couldn’t paint me as a minimalist if you tried. I’ve attempted to be more intentional about the things in my closet, but getting rid of them is still challenging. I have a specific spot in my closet reserved for clothes I haven’t worn in a while. If they stay there for over a year, I contemplate getting rid of them. But this is still not an easy decision, as my emotions can get in the way. I bought that clothing for a reason, and I had to work to make the money to purchase it. Getting rid of it feels like a waste of time and money, making the decision even more difficult.

We also did a mass cleanout of the office at work, where we got rid of two dumpsters’ worth of things we no longer needed. Seeing what we got rid of helped us revamp some of our processes so it doesn’t happen again. We often get comfortable doing things a certain way, and we don’t think about changing because that’s just the way we’ve always done it. Many of us fall into this trap of thinking. It reminds me of a story about a man, his wife, and a ham. This man watched his wife cook a ham and noticed she had cut off a large part of it. He asked why she did it, and she said, “That’s how my mother taught me to make ham.” When he saw his mother-in-law next, he asked her the same question, and she responded in the same manner: “That’s how my mother taught me to make ham.” The next time he saw his wife’s grandmother, he asked her the same question. She said, “I only cut it that way so it would fit in the pan.” It was how they did things back in the day, but it’s no longer necessary to do them that way. You don’t have to change your values, but updating your practices is worth considering. Spring is a great time to deep-clean or update your home or lifestyle, but remember you don’t have to wait until you officially begin spring-cleaning to make a change. We can make positive adjustments to our lives at any time.

The Sweet Scents of Spring 3 Potpourri Mixtures You Need to Try

Our goal in providing pick-up and delivery services is to make your life easier. Instead of taking time out of your busy schedule to drop off your garments at the dry cleaners, we’ll come to you, saving you time, effort, and gas. We’ve provided this service for years and often hear how helpful it is from our wonderful customers. Are you searching for ways to add more free time to each day? Well, look no further! We’ve put together a list of four other at- home services you can hire that will give you more time to spend with your family, participate in hobbies you love, or simply relax. DOG WALKERS Owning a dog can be one of the greatest pleasures in life, but nobody looks forward to some aspects of it. Luckily, there are people who can help. If you’re struggling to find time to take your furry friend for a walk, dog walkers are available to assist you. Dog walkers typically go to your home, pick up the dog, take them for a walk, and return them. Some will even go the extra mile by feeding your dog, giving medications, and more. LAWN CARE It seems like we need to get outside and mow our lawns every weekend when summer rolls around. Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone else do it for you? Most lawn care services use better equipment than what you have at home and can leave your lawn looking fresh in minimal time. Some lawn care companies even offer to plow your driveway during winter. GROCERY DELIVERY Going to the grocery store can sometimes feel exhausting, especially if you’ve had a long week at work. Thankfully, many grocery chains have started offering delivery and curbside pickup. You place your grocery order on your phone and schedule a time to pick up your groceries or have them delivered. It’s as easy as can be and will save you plenty of time. HOUSE CLEANERS You have a lot to keep up with around the house. Washing dishes, doing laundry, and cleaning surfaces are just a few tasks that never end once you start cleaning. House cleaners come to your house and take care of everything. They will make your home look spotless, leaving you wondering why you didn't hire them sooner. Try 4 Other Services to Save Time ENJOYING OUR PICK-UP AND DELIVERY SERVICES?

Many have heard about using a stovetop potpourri to simmer

oranges, apples, and cinnamon to make your home smell like Christmas. But you can also fill your home with fresh scents that remind you of spring. The best part is that you probably have most of the ingredients you need at home or in your garden!

BUT FIRST, WHAT IS POTPOURRI? Potpourri combines fruits, spices, herbs, and other edible ingredients to make rich scents that spread throughout your home. It’s one of the most natural and cheapest ways to freshen the air you breathe. Here are three stovetop potpourris to make your home smell like springtime. Lemon, Rosemary, and Vanilla Making this sweet-smelling scent is easy! Just add 2 sliced lemons, a handful of fresh rosemary, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract to a large pot filled with water. Bring the mixture to a simmer and enjoy the fresh and clean scent! Lime, Mint, Ginger, and Thyme Add 3 sliced limes, a handful of fresh mint and thyme, and finely sliced ginger to a pot for this mixture. When the ingredients come to a simmer, you’ll immediately smell a citrus-mint aroma that will spread throughout your home. Lemon, Cinnamon, Mint, and Thyme This mixture is perfect if you want to add a hint of spice and warmth to your fresh spring scent. Combine 2 sliced lemons, a handful of fresh mint and thyme, and 2 cinnamon sticks in a pot before bringing the water to a simmer. One of the best things about potpourri is that the mixture will last a couple of days. Once you turn off your stove and drain the water, you can keep the ingredients in the pot and reuse them. All you have to do is add more water and bring it to a simmer again. Alternatively, you can prep your ingredients in advance, store them in an airtight container like a mason jar, and refrigerate them until you’re ready to use them.

So, fill your home with sweet fragrances to usher in a joyous spring!

FRIENDS DON’T LET FRIENDS Sit at Tables With Crinkly Tablecloths

Some big holidays are coming up in March and early April that require some preparation. Ramadan starts on March 21, Passover begins a few weeks later on April 5, and Easter is on April 9. Family members and friends will often gather and spend time together to honor the observances. If you’re planning to have people over for Easter dinner, a Passover seder, or the pre-dawn Suhoor meal, you might want to get your tablecloths dry-cleaned. Dry-cleaning your tablecloths and other linens helps to preserve their color and shape. When you wash and dry your tablecloths with your regular laundry, they don’t often get as clean as they should be. You might be unable to remove the stains or dirt using your home machines. When you bring your tablecloths to us, we take the utmost care of them and return them to you in pristine condition. You don’t want to take any chances with your nice tablecloths, especially if they’re made from delicate or expensive fabrics like silk. Our customers are always pleased with the quality of care and results whenever they drop off their linens with us.

Remember, friends don’t let friends sit at tables with crinkly tablecloths. If you’re hosting a holiday get-together, make sure you stop by and see us with your linens to get them cleaned in time for the big occasion. If you’re attending a gathering and the host is looking for somewhere to get their items cleaned beforehand, send them our way. We’ll be happy to help them and ensure their items are ready.
