(Psalm 119:9). Our Lord prayed, “ Sanctify them through Thy Word; Thy Word is tru th ” (John 17:17), and He stated to His disciples, “ Now ye are clean through the Word which I have spoken unto you” (John 15:3). Only as we continue feasting on and appropriating God’s Word, can we keep spiritually clean. Have you been dirtying your soul with some spir itually contaminating pollutants? Have you been going to some places that are polluting your Christian tes timony? Have you been seeing some things that are like spiritual trash piling up in your soul? Have you been associating with some people who may be clog ging up your taste for spiritual things? Have you been engaging in some activities that are bringing impurities into your life? Perhaps you have not been breathing clean spir itual air. Perhaps you have lost your appetite for the clear, unadulterated spiritual milk of the Word. Per haps you have weakened your spiritual stamina so that you are now more susceptible to the attacks of the enemy. If so, you need to clean your life! Let's not forget that our Lord said that, “ Blessed [happy] are the pure in heart” (Matt. 5:8). The following threefold formula can help you overcome temptation and stay spiritually clean. 1. Resist. "Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). You can say no to sin. You don’t have to yield. We are not to make pro vision for the flesh (Rom. 13:11). 2. Run. “ Flee youthful lusts” (II Tim. 2:22). Joseph found that he literally had to run from temptation. We too are to renounce ungodli ness (Titus 2:12). 3. Reckon. “ Reckon yourself dead unto sin” (Rom. 6:11). The next time you are tempted to sin you should say to yourself, “ I am dead to this thing. I have no living relationship to it.” But holiness means more than resisting sin. It also means reflecting Christ’s image. A boy was asked, “ What is a saint?” He attended a church that had stained-glass windows under which were written the words “ St. Matthew,” “ St. Mark,” etc. He thought about the question and then gave the reply, “ A saint is a person through whom the light shines.” Let's examine our lives to be sure that the light of God’s holiness is shining through us. Let’s allow the Lord to work His spiritual pollution solution in us. Let’s be holy in every part of our lives. Why? Because keeping ourselves “ unspotted from the world” is part of the very essence of pure and undefiled religion (James 1:27). “This is the will of God, even your sanctification” (I Thess. 4:3)1 Kg Dr. Roy B.
