News & Events ATTALLA HERITAGE DAY - Visit North Alabama invites everyone to step back in time and enjoy a day filled with music, food, art and community at Attalla Heritage Day Festival. Set for October 18, 2025, this annual free festival takes place in the heart of historic downtown Attalla along 4th Street NW, offering a variety of activities for the entire family to enjoy. The event celebrates the city’s history and vibrant community spirit with a variety of activities and entertainment, including arts, crafts and handcrafted treasures from talented regional artisans, a car show, live music, food vendors and a kid zone with rides, games and activities in a safe, fun-filled space. DEPOT DAYS FESTIVAL - The City of Hartselle proudly announces the 45th Annual Depot Days Festival, set for September 13–20, 2025. This iconic weeklong celebration promises to be the biggest, boldest, and most memorable Depot Days yet — a true homage to Hartselle’s rich history, vibrant community spirit, and exciting future. From high-energy concerts and a festive 5K run to heartfelt worship and immersive heritage experiences, this year’s festival offers something for everyone — a dynamic blend of fun, fellowship, and family-friendly activities that invite the whole community to come together and celebrate. • Saturday, September 13 – Rails to Recovery 5K Presented by Nucor • Sunday, September 14 – Hartselle Hallelujahs: Battle of the Church Choirs • Tuesday, September 16 – Landmarks & Legends: A Walk Down Memory Lane • Wednesday, September 17 – Rock-N-Rails Concert Presented by Quail Creek Resort • Saturday, September 20 – Depot Days Main Festival: Music, Food, Fun & More! The grand finale fills Historic Downtown Hartselle with an all-day celebration packed with excitement for the whole family. Enjoy browsing dozens of artisan booths and food vendors showcasing local flavors and crafts, a dazzling classic Car Show, and hands-on fun at the Kid Station featuring games, activities, and entertainment just for kids. Art lovers won’t want to miss the Art Show where local artists exhibit their talents and creativity. There will also be live performances by a diverse musical lineup. FACILITY TO CREATE 500 JOBS - Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp recently announced that JS Link America Inc., a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of JS Link, intends to invest about $223 million to establish a new rare earth permanent magnet manufacturing facility in Columbus. The new facility will create more than 520 new jobs in Muscogee County, GA. JS Link America Inc.’s new manufacturing facility will be located at the Muscogee Technology Park in Columbus. The 130,000-square-foot facility is predicted to have an annual production capacity of 3,000 tons. Operations are expected to begin in late 2027. The company will be hiring for engineering, production, construction, administrative, and management roles. STATE TROOPER ARRESTED - An Alabama State Trooper has been charged with Solicitation of Prostitution and Computer Tampering. According to a news release, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 former Senior Alabama State Trooper Paul Richey turned himself in to the Limestone County Sheriff's Office. He was booked into the Limestone County Jail for charges of Solicitation of Prostitution and Computer Tampering. The charges are reportedly the result of an ongoing investigation led by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). On Monday, September 8, Richey resigned from his position at ALEA and is no longer employed with the Agency. Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing.

Gadsden State Community College recently recognized its most dedicated staff members of the year with the 2025 Excellence in Service Awards. The annual honors celebrate employees whose contributions have transformed the institution and inspired the campus community. The awards were presented to Ethan Vinyard (Maintenance Technician I) and Kaiti Bolton, (CRM Coordinator I).
