With over 21,000 jobs, the study area represents an important component to Fort Worth’s economic base see Figure 29. Approximately 40% of the jobs in the Eastside are located on or near East Lancaster Avenue, connecting Downtown to neighborhoods and activity zones to the east. Jobs elsewhere in the study area are heavily influenced by shopping centers located on or near major interchanges. More than 1,100 employed residents live and work in the study area with another 15,871 people commuting in from areas elsewhere in Fort Worth (see Figure 30). Approximately 32,000 residents commute to other areas outside the study area.

In 2024, Lightcast data shows that across Fort Worth’s 52 ZIP codes that the City’s highest-earning industries are led by Utilities, with average earnings per job reaching $184,461, followed by Mining, Quarrying, and Oil and Gas Extraction at $176,516. Other top-paying sectors include Finance and Insurance ($123,012), Information ($121,180), Management of Companies and Enterprises ($116,073), and Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services ($114,578). The lowest five paying sectors included Unclassified Industry ($56,614); Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Hunting ($55,509); Retail Trade ($48,703); Other Services (except Public Administration) ($44,084); and Accommodation and Food Services ($30,672).
