Based on a review of the study area, additional recommendations were identified outside of the LPA.
Potential Intersection Improvements
The identification of potential intersections improvements is critical to the thoroughfare planning process because the configuration and signalization of intersections significantly impact roadway safety, traffic operations, and the ease at which vehicles are able to enter and exit a development. The potential intersection projects summarized in Table 9 were developed to address concerns identified by City of Fort Worth staff or stakeholders, see Figure 48. A full list of identified intersection concerns and potential solutions are available in the appendices.

Replace the median between Purington Ave and Ward St with a traffic signal regulate turning movements from between the intersecting roadways. Extend the left-turn lane in the westbound lanes to increase left- turn storage capacity. Install a right turn lane at Purington Ave and East Lancaster Ave. to allow free flowing and protected turns onto Ward Street. Add crosswalks and pedestrian walk signal at intersection to facilitate safe pedestrian movement across East Lancaster Ave.

Install peanut roundabout to allow continuous traffic circulation and improve safety.
Convert signal-controlled intersection to decked roundabout that connects Beach Street frontage roads, Meadowbrook Drive, and East Lancaster Avenue and improve pedestrian access and safety. 84 crashes occurred here Optimize/increase change and clearance intervals at signalized intersections to allow more time for vehicles to travel through the intersection. Install larger traffic signals and lighting to improve visibility of traffic signals.
