T HOROUGHFARE P LANNING The anticipated outcomes of the Eastside Transportation Plan’s goals and objectives are improved mobility and quality of life. Potential transportation projects identified in this chapter may bring the outcomes to fruition through improvements in multimodal transportation system safety, access, connectivity, and traffic operations. They may also strengthen the Eastside’s overall development framework. A thoroughfare plan is a long-range plan that identifies the type and general location of potential future roadways. This long-term planning process allows for preservation of future transportation corridors, guidance for future development, connectivity and uniformity, and appropriate approvals, as needed. The thoroughfare planning process, illustrated in Figure 50, is the process through which transportation system improvements are identified, evaluated, and prioritized. Please note that some improvements identified in the thoroughfare planning process may be screened out during the project evaluation and prioritization stages of the thoroughfare planning process. Additionally, the projects summarized in this section are only a sample of the full list of identified projects evaluated for inclusion in the City of Fort Worth’s MTP. The full list of all potential projects, including collector and local roadways, is in the Appendix.
