Figure 57: Potential Oakland Boulevard Extension
Oakland Boulevard Extension:
Four-lane, Undivided, Neighborhood Connector Extend the roadway from 1 st Street to Elliott Reeder Road where it will transition into Carson Street to create an alternative connection between IH-30 and SH 121. The connection, depicted in Figure 57 and Figure 58 , will improve north-to-south connectivity and increase access to Haltom City. The segment of the roadway near Gateway Park may be designed as a floodway road to allow floodwaters to pass through during flood events, like a floodway.

Pros
Cons
• The segment’s location in flood plain and potential topography issues may limit development potential along the roadway. • Construction costs may be higher if bridges or culverts are needed to cross the flood plain. • May require a more detailed environmental assessment due to location in the flood plain.
• Improves north-south connectivity into Haltom City. • Provide a more complete street grid network within the study area. • Strengthen active transportation network by improving landscaping and a shared use path.
