P OTENTIAL E AST L ANCASTER I MPROVEMENTS AND R OUTE 89 I MPROVEMENTS

Improvements along East Lancaster Avenue and Route 89 are described in the following sections as east and west of IH-820 given the varying characteristics on each side of the corridor. Please refer to the LPA section in prior chapter as well. East Lancaster Avenue (East of IH-820) City of Fort Worth, NCTCOG, and TxDOT held a focus group and public open house with Handley area stakeholders to gather feedback on the preferred cross-section and discuss its implications on the adjacent historical and environmental constraints along this segment of East Lancaster. Stakeholders were in favor of maintaining the existing four (4) lane section and installing safety and operational elements to improve walkability, multimodal access, and overall safety for the corridor. Corridor elements include the following a potential cross section of the roadway is depicted in Figure 66.

• On-street parking (at identified locations) • Median • Shared use path (where ROW is adequate) • Transit signal priority • Pedestrian scale lighting
