Welcome to Watkins Cattle Company 7 th annual fall sale. We are so thankful that you have taken your time to look at our program. As you can see, we are in the heart of the fescue belt, and we take pride in producing cattle that will thrive in this environment. We are still rebuilding from the EF3 tornado that hit our home place on May 26, 2024. We remain blessed with the support of our community and friends, as we continue to rebuild our operation. The damage that we are still unable to repair has again forced us to have our sale off the ranch. We are very thankful for the support of one of our local cattle auctions to allow us to use their facility again this year. Lynden and Katie Judy have graciously offered their facility, The Cattlemen’s Livestock Auction in Harrison, AR for us to use. This year we will be offering our largest and deepest set of yearling bulls, a select pair of registered spring bred females. We will again be offering yearling registered heifers that will be ready to breed this fall. We will continue offering open yearling commercial heifers. We will also offer cattle outside of our operation. Tim Crunkleton Farms will have a select group of open commercial heifers out of his program. Tim has been a longtime friend of the family and has supported our program with bull purchases from day one. All heifers have been pelvic checked, tract scored and vaccinated to be ready for fall breeding. We look forward to spending time sharing our cattle offering with you. We are a family owned and operated cattle business. LaTeresa, as we affectionately call her “The Boss Lady” and our youngest daughter Laramie, who is a senior at Valley Springs School, take care of day-to-day operations. Which includes calving and feeding all the animals, including the bulls developed on our ranch. Our middle daughter, Mattie is enrolled in Graduate School at the University of Central Arkansas and helps pick up the slack on weekends and breaks. Our oldest daughter, Kaitlin is teaching first grade this year at Valley Springs School. Kaitlin and husband Russell Goodman are also busy with their own cow herd and raising our two grandchildren, Hazel and Hatch. They help when we have big days or when time allows. We are in an exciting time in the cattle industry, and the cattle cycle is more favorable than ever for cow/calf producers. You can look at market reports from any source today and see that cattle prices are drastically improving. This makes the fundamentals of having quality cattle that will perform, along with high fertility females, and producing healthy, heavy calves ready for market are still what drives our profitability. This is a good time to evaluate your current bull battery and think about what opportunities for improvement are available to you. It is also exciting to use Red Angus sired genetics. Red Angus sired genetics have continued to be more valuable and with recent changes in the industry that trend is continuing. Please join us on Thursday evening before our sale to lean more about “The Red Angus Path to Prosperity” from our very own Kelly Smith, Director of Commercial Marketing at Red Angus Association of America. We want to be your source for quality seed stock that will perform. We make every effort to bring top quality genetics to our customers that will work in a grass-based program and have a lasting impact on your operations for years to come. We also work to bring the most progressive data collection tools at our disposal. Including genomically enhanced EPD’s and carcass ultrasound, as well our own on ranch evaluations on docility, fertility, and phenotype. We are very blessed to have you look at our program. We hope you enjoy our cattle that we are offering this fall. Please reach out to us with any questions or additional information you would like to see. We look forward to seeing you on sale day. Safe travels and God bless you and your family.
