The Ambler Mining District in Northwest Alaska is a mineral-rich area that has several known large copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver deposits being explored by various companies. Four large deposits alone (Smucker, Arctic, Bornite, and Sun) have an estimated resource value of more than $26 billion over the life of the mines. However, the Ambler Mining District is not cur- rently accessible by road, train, or barge, making mine development and operation infeasible. Access is needed to unlock the rich potential of the area. To help access the region and unlock the poten- tial economic growth and job opportunities that the ,XMWP][]ZUPN_ZʬP]^_SP,WL^VL4YO`^_]TLW/PaPWZ[ - XPY_LYO0c[Z]_,`_SZ]T_dSL^[]Z[Z^POLXTWP road from the Dalton Highway to the District.
