FOR JUNE Rev. Elmer L. Wilder which can be hidden easily. On *rare occasions, they unfold the cross and reveal it if asked whether or not they aie Christians. But he who carries a hidden cross is of no help to unsaved people, and he certainly does not please Christ. One of the reasons that there are not more, people accepting Christ as their Saviour. today is that many Chnstians are carrying a folded cross. Their cross looks like any other on Sunday, when they are in the House cf God, associating with Christians; but it is a folded cross during the week, and they can easily get it out of sight when they are with those who are not Christians. I feel confident that the Lord Jesus is pleased when His followers have a “lip and life” testimony, which can be seen clearly and understood by those whom they meet each day in the world. Let us carry a fixed and not a folded cross. Third Week SEW SO Objects:.A dress pattern and a piece of dress material. Lesson: If your mother intended to make a dress of this material, she would not get very far without a pat tern, would she? People need patterns for many things in life besides dresses. We especially need a pattern for prayer. Illustrated by Gladys Bowmtan

Objects: Three capital “I’s” cut from newspaper. (Make them 18 inches high, with the upright, the width of a column; and the crossbars, the width of three columns. Cut one from the marriage announcements, one from the death notices, and the other from the church announcements. Thumbtack to the blackboard.)

there anointed Jesus with a very costly perfume. That was a time of service, and Christ was the center of her service. Folding the third “I" Which has church services on it, we find that it, too, makes a cross. Mary had Christ in her service. Christ changes our days of sun shine, sorrow, and service. Second Week HELP OR HIDE Objects: Two crosses. (The crosses should be about 12 inches high. One is made of cardboard, and the other of thin paper. Color both red.)

Lesson: These are strange looking “I’s," At first they look very much alike, but if you were to examine them closely, you would find them entirely different. One is made of marriage announcements, and speaks to us of joy and sunshine. The second is made of death notices, and reminds us of sorrow and shadows. The third is made of church announcements, re ferring to service. Three times during the life of Christ, He associated with Mary and Martha. He visited their home in Bethany, not to attend a wedding, but it was, never theless, a time of joy and sunshine. Mary sat at His feet, while Martha served. We. will fold the first ,‘T ’ and see what h a p p e n s . (Fold 3 inches from the top, and a sufficient distance from the bottom to cause the two crossbars to overlap, making a cross. Thumback in this position.) Mary, and Martha were wise in inviting Christ into, their .home in a time; of happi ness.' Christ came to the home of Mary and Martha during a season of sorrow and shadow. Their brother, Lazarus, was dead. Knowing their grief, Jesus came to raise Lazarus from the dead, to comfort the sisters, and to bring glory to God. As we fold this “I,” it also makes a cross, and we lose sight of the death notices. It is wonderful to have Christ in ‘ a time of sorrow. They did not wait for this experience to make His acquaintance. Simon the.leper prepared a feast and. invited Jesus' to it. Mary camé, and

Lesson: In looking at ■these red crosses, I am reminded of the words of Jesus': ' “Whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:27). When a person becomes a Christian, the cross of Christ becomes his oWn in a very real way. It is Jesus’ desire that His followers give a Christian testimony wherever they go. These crosses look very much qlike, but they are different. One is made of stiff cardboard, and the other is made of thin paper. The, paper one can be folded and placed out of sight under my coat. If I try to hide the cardboard cross, it sticks out and others can see that there is something under my coat. There are those who have claimed to receive Christ as a personal Sav iour, and yet they carry a folded cross

One day as- the Lord Jesus Christ finished praying, one of the disciples asked Him to teach them to pray. So Jesus said, “After this manner there fore pray yd” (Matt. 6:9). The Lord’s
