Biola Broadcaster - 1967-10

A. Of course, the statement is true, but it is an axiom. It applies to English only that by taking God out of good one is left with “o.” This isn’t true in other languages. The word for good and the word for God aren’t alike in any sense. Don’t make up doctrines on the basis of language and popular saying! Q. San Luis Obispo, Calif. — “Although I believe the Bible, I don’t have peace or assurance in my heart. I ’d like to know what’s wrong." A. God’s Word tells us, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.” It may be that you are too self-centered. The Bible teaches us that we are to ac cept the revealed promises, acting upon them and living by them. Do not look inwardly, instead of up wardly. Believe God; trust in Him gives peace. Q . Seattle, Wash. — “My husband de clares that it isn’t necessary for us to have physical examinations every year because we are old. We would like to know if you agree?” A. We believe it would be a very

world would have been better off if he hadn’t have been born. How ever, God does allow it. Christ knew all things from the beginning, but He allowed Judas to go his way. This was His permissive will, not His directive will, and His fore knowledge did not make it happen. Q . Los Angeles, Calif. — “According to Genesis 8:7-10, isn’t nudism sin ful?’’ A. Yes, you are correct. Please take the time to read this passage. The Word of God throughout reveals the sinfulness of nudism. The fig leaves which Adam and Eve made for themselves were not sufficient, be cause later on God provided them with coats of skin, and garments of skin to cover themselves. Nudity is one of the signs of the moral de pravity of our times. The pagan religious were obsessed with nudity and accompanying evils. Q. Bremerton, Wash. — “ Where in the Bible is this found, 7 promised you these things ?’ ” A. This is not a Scripture verse. The statement is a general summary of promises in Scripture. Q . Medford, Ore.— “In I Thessalonians 5:26, should we literally greet all of the brethren with a holy kiss?’’ A. This was a custom in the early days, much the same as our hand shake today. We m igh t translate this, “Give all of the friends a greet ing for me.” The kiss wasn’t on the H ds but usually on the cheeks, men kissing men. It is still a greeting in areas and even in France but not in most of Europe and never in the United States. Q . Los Angeles, Calif. — “Is there any credibility to the saying ‘There is no good without God. When you take God out of good you are left with zero’?”
