good idea to have regular check-ups. This is especially true with women. Many physicians believe 'that the check-up period should come every six months. The physical has a great deal to do with the spiritual; Read the book of Job. We should desire to be at our full potential in order to serve God acceptably. We are temples of the Holy Spirit. Q . Medford, Ore. — “Will you please explain the verse in Ephesians 5:U. I am puzzled about the meaning of the word jesting.” A. This is an exhortation to avoid certain things for a Christian. “Jest ing” is translated by Phillips as “silliness” or “flippancy.” A thought of irreverence is meant. It has no connection with clean, happy humor. Q. Tucson, Ari*. — “Should a man let his beard grow?” A. While there may not be anything particularly sinful about this, yet as the custom is being carried out to day, we feel such a practice is un fortunate. How tragic to see people rebelling against the accepted order of law and decency! So far as a Christian is concerned, he would do well to keep well-shaven. For many years only show people, who desired publicity for obvious reasons, grew beards and long hair, but now, un fortunately, it is becoming wide spread. They wish to attract atten tion which cannot be pleasing to God. Q . Glendale, Calif. — “Is it right to support a church that sends part of the money to liberal missionaries?” A. We do not believe a born-again Christian should allow his money to be used by liberal missionaries. At the same time you do have an obli gation to your own local church. If devoted Christian people would stop giving to modernistic churches and

enterprises, these institutions would fold up in comparatively short order. Be sure to discuss the matter fully with your pastor. Let your voice be heard, and pray for God’s leading in the steps which are then taken. Q . Sebastopol, Calif. — “What is pre destination, and is it the same as election?” A. Predestination and election are both Biblical doctrines (Rom. 8:29- 30; Eph. 1:5). These words are often used to describe the same act. Election is that from which we are taken, while predestination is the place to which we are going. It's unfortunate that some people are like the old mule, which was awfully back ward about going forward! * * * Nothing lies beyond the reach of prayer except that which is outside the will of God. * * *
