2. Change to Distinguished Faculty Awards: • Recommends amending the Faculty Code Section III Distinguished Faculty Awards and Appendix B of the Faculty Code, as outlined in Exhibit C. The Faculty Senate annually recognizes remarkable teaching, service, and research with the Distinguished Faculty Awards, the highest faculty awards attainable at the university and must represent the highest level of performance. This proposed revision of the Faculty Code section on Distinguished Faculty Awards addresses several issues that surface every year as the Senate completes the selection of honorees: e.g., insufficient opportunities for non-tenure track faculty members; anonymity of selection committee; composition of selection committee. Proposed Code changes address those issues and make the award process more transparent and efficient. The development of these revisions included consultation with the CWU Foundation to clarify the source of the award funds association with the Distinguished Faculty Awards. We recommend the following motion: The Board of Trustees of Central Washington University endorses the recommendation of the Faculty Senate and approves the changes to Faculty Code.
