- Refund Policy: the Recreation Dept. does not issue refunds when registrants drop out. However, we do issue credits which do not expire and can be used by anyone in the family. Refunds WILL be issued if the Rec Dept. the program is canceled in its entirety. We do NOT reimburse for inclement weather or any Wachusett Mtn. products.

- Programs at the schools are cancelled during holidays, vacations, professional days, half days, snow days and weather - forced early release All other cancellations are at the discretion of the instructor.

To the Public who filled Memorial Park each week to listen to the concerts and enjoy the community spirit. The many talented Bands that entertained the crowds. The Sterling/Lancaster local cable staff who did a phenomenal job of taping the concerts and editing them for the communities enjoyment to view on local channel 8.

Athletic Fields and Facility Use Permits: All Organizations & groups requesting the use of fields or facilities must fill out a Facility Reservation and Field Request Form at the Recreation Office or download from the web site: www.sterling - ma.gov. Click on Recreation link and go to Field use and reservations. Permits will be issued once the request has been reviewed and required documentation has been received by the Recreation Department. Spring request should be submitted by FEBRUARY 10TH .

DIVISION I– Co - ed; Grade 1. Instructional with skill work coordinated by instructor. Saturday mornings DIVISION II - Co - ed Grades 2 & 3, (combined for teams). Skill work and games with emphasis on instruction. Practice/ games two times per week. Saturday mornings or Monday or Wednesday or Friday evenings. DIVISION IIIB - Boy Grades 4 & 5 (combined for teams). Practice/games two times per week, Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. DIVISON IV - Girls Grades 4 - 8. Skill work and 3 on 3 games. Practice/games two times per week. Monday and Thursday evenings. DIVISION V– Boys; Grades 6 - 8 (combined for teams). Practice/games two times per week, Thursday and Friday evenings.

Late Registrants in all divisions will be placed on a wait list if necessary and subject to a $10.00 late fee. Every team will be held to 10 players unless all coaches in a division are in agreement -- space limited.

BASKETBALL COACHES AND ASSISTANTS!!! This program requires volunteer coaches to run! Please register by November 1st. The program will NOT run until we have enough coaches. First time coaching? Don ’ t worry! We will supply practice ideas, game information and support from the Recreation Committee. Coaches are required to complete a CORI(Criminal Offender Record Information) form at the Recreation Office. No person will be allowed to coach/assist without the completed documentation. Head Coaches players play for FREE! *limited to the child(ren) playing on the team the parent/guardian is head coaching. Head coaches only.

An employee of Sterling Recreation will walk students to Chocksett Cafeteria, Students are encouraged to bring a snack to enjoy at this time before the program begins. GameBots Robotics: Calling all gamers! Have a blast creating robotic games each week while learning about ro- botics. Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, basic coding skills, and basics of robotics through design and play as they create fun to play games. Whether creating pinball machine, duck hunt or a ring toss game, your child is sure to have fun building, learning, and playing. AttackBots: In this exciting program, students will build a variety of military - inspired robots that will respond to their programmed commands. While working with a partner to solve the various challenges, your student will be chal- lenged to understand how to effectively utilize a sensor, how different mechanical components can alter the power and speed of their machine. SuperStructures: Can you design the next Taj Mahal? Come create and build the future using LEGO® bricks in Snapology's new and exciting Architecture class! It's never too early to foster your child's engineering and building skills in this super cool program. Students will be paired off in groups to for this program. If you are getting tired of playing the same old sports everyday, this is definitely the program for you. The non - traditional style of games/competitions will keep all participants on their toes learning new games as they get further into this program. Have you ever heard of Fort Knox? Or Ultimate Frisbee? What about Army Dodgeball? This unique program will also put emphasis on physical fitness, proper stretching techniques and team work.

Take the first steps towards independence! In this course, we will teach children the basics of being safe when home alone for short periods of time. We will talk about how to answer the telephone and door, discuss internet safety, learn about accident prevention and fire safety protection and how to call 911. We will cover simple first aid techniques, such as how to relieve choking, and talk about how to use our time wisely!

Join us for a Babysitting workshop and get CPR/AED certified, too! We will cover how to react responsibly to medical emergencies, perform first aid for common childhood injuries, how to best call 911 and how to prevent and relieve choking. You ’ ll be prepared to interview for a babysitting job, select safe activities for children of different ages and run your own babysitting business. You ’ ll leave with a certificate of completion for babysitting, a First Aid book, and upon successful completion, you will also be certified in CPR/AED.

AGES: 13+ DATE: May 29, 2024 TIME: 6:00PM WHERE: 1835 Old Town Hall FEE: $30.00 Join Michele from Sincerely, Michele for a fun class on decoupaging. Michele will help guide you step by step how to make beautiful Decoupage items. After this class you will be able to decoupage on your own at home! This class is not a drop off class. Ages 13 and up must be accompanied by an adult. In this class, you will learn how to decoupage and create 2 lovely sea shells that can be used to admire or to hold trinkets. You will be able to choose from a variety of napkin designs to create your own masterpieces.

HOLIDAY LIGHT TOUR

Start a family tradition with our Holiday Light Tour! Residents are encouraged to decorate their homes with outside décor and lights for the holiday season. Email or call the Sterling Recreation Department by November 27th to have your address added to our published Holiday Light Tour list! Any addresses received after this date will be added to the online listing only. Drive by touring will start on December 8th, be sure to keep those lights shining! EASTER EGG HUNT

Join the Easter Bunny and Sterling Recreation for Sterling ’ s Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Children through 3rd grade are invited to participate in this annual tradition! Bring your baskets and dress for the weather! Hunt starts promptly at 12:00pm at Memorial Park on March 23rd. We will hunt for eggs in the snow, but rain date is March 24th .

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the ________, (hereinafter “ Program ”) I, the undersigned, on behalf of the participant listed above (hereinafter “ Participant ”), and for myself, my heirs, personal and/or legal representatives, next of kin, and assigns (hereinafter collectively referred to as “ I ” or “ ME ”), CONSENT to the Participant ’ s participation in the Program and hereby:

RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE and COVENANT NOT TO SUE the Town of Sterling, Ma. its agents, servants, employees, officials, volunteers, contractors, representatives (hereinafter the “ Town ”) from any

and all liability, claims, demands, actions, suits, loss and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including, but not limited to, death, illness, injury and/or disease, and including any death, illness, injury and/or disease in any way related to or arising out of the novel coronavirus (COVID - 19), that may be sustained by the Participant and/or arising out of or related to the Participant ’ s participation in the Program, regardless of whether they arise in tort, contract, strict liability, or other legal theory. This Participant Release, Waiver of Liability, and Indemnity Agreement shall not apply to any injury or harm (including death) caused by gross negligence. AGREE TO INDEMNIFY, SAVE and HOLD HARMLESS the Town from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, suits, loss, and causes of action and any cost it may incur, including court costs and attorneys ’ fees, arising out of or related to the Participant ’ s participation in the Program, regardless of whether they arise in tort, contract, strict liability, or other legal theory. ACKNOWLEDGE that the Participant ’ s participation in the Program may be dangerous and may involve the risk of serious injury and/or illness, including COVID - 19, and/or death and CONSENT to the Participant ’ s voluntary participation and ASSUME full responsibility for any risk of loss, death, illness, injury and/or disease which I and/or the Participant may sustain arising out of or related to the Program whether known or unknown and whether caused by the negligence of the Town or otherwise. AGREE that this Participant Release, Waiver of Liability, and Indemnity Agreement shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and that, in the event any portion of this document is deemed unlawful or unenforceable, said portion shall be severable and the balance of the terms shall continue in full legal force and effect. AGREE that I, the undersigned, am the parent or legal guardian of the Participant. I hereby execute this Participant Release, Waiver of Liability, and Indemnity Agreement on the Participant ’ s behalf. I understand that by executing this agreement on behalf of the Participant, I am binding the Participant and ME to the terms of this Participant Release, Waiver of Liability, and Indemnity Agreement. AGREE that I, hereby give my consent for emergency medical care prescribed by a licensed Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Dentistry. It is possible that pictures will be taken during classes. I agree that pictures taken during program hours could potentially be used for promotional purpose. I understand that all participants of the Recreation programs will be respectful of anyone employed by or contracted by the Recreation Department when participating in Recreation sponsored programs. I understand that the Recreation Department will not be responsible for any or all personal items brought to any Recreation Dept. sponsored programs. I understand when I or a designated person signs my child out from a Recreation sponsored program, the responsibility of my child and his/her belongings are my sole responsibility

I HAVE READ THIS PARTICIPANT RELEASE, WAIVER OF LIABILTY, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP
