Legislature Candidates Guide

forward. To grow Alaska, I am focused on the following priorities: n Working with legislators and the public to create a sensible, sustainable fiscal plan that provides stable funding for priorities like education, public safe- ty, healthcare, reliable transportation, and more; n Preserving the Permanent Fund and guaranteeing a lasting dividend; n Working to make government more efficient, while realizing we can - not cut our way out of this deficit and comprehending what we’ve already done: a 40% cut to the budget and 3,200 fewer state employees; n Rebuilding our economy and putting Alaskans to work by proposing a bond package to invest in local projects: roads, bridges, harbors, school repairs, and water and sewer systems; n Working with communities and the private sector to encourage econom- ic innovations; and n Encouraging and supporting re- sponsible economic development proj- ects.

We were con - fronted with a once-in-century pan- demic that resulted in tens of thousands of Alaskans losing their jobs, dropped the price of oil, and crashed earnings of the Permanent Fund. Yet I believe Alaska still has a bright future, though it will take everyone coming to the table to determine a way
