brought their lead to 2-0 in the 16th minute, but the Lumber Kings responded to and put the scoreline at 2-1 by the end of the first. The Nats were held to just one goal in the second, care of Jacob Charron, but the floodgates opened in the third, with Paquin earning his second on the day just thirty seconds into the period. William Gosselin, Kyle Leonard and Samiel Dumont all put their name on the Nats’ scoresheet by the night’s end, giving Rockland a resounding 7-1 win for their first game of the season. “It was a good start for sure,” said Perreira. “An entertaining game to say the least.” Rockland was set to play the Raider in Nepean on Sunday, September 17, however that game was postponed due to an ongoing issue with the ice at the Nepean Sportsplex’s Yzerman arena. The Nats head to Cornwall on Thursday before welcoming the Navan Grads home on Friday, September 22. Last season, Rockland fell to both the Colts and the Grads three out of their five matchups.

The Nats opening fixture of the season came against the Pembroke Lumber Kings at the Rockland arena on Friday, September 15. Trystan-Félix Tremblay gave the home team an early lead with a fifth-minute short- handed and unassisted goal in the first period. Assistant captain Mathieu Paquin

—photo Gregg Chamberlain
