Senior Sustainability Policy and Performance Manager

1. Lead, manage, promote and maintain a high quality Professional Services team, engendering a culture of continuous improvement. 2. Ensure the delivery of outputs of the team. 3. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and University policies, interpreting the same and advising on their practical application. 4. Work in partnership to actively engage internal and external stakeholders in consultations and co-creation in relation to policy and business changes, including through the successful management of various sustainability committees and forums 5. Work in partnership with other key stakeholders to ensure seamless service 6. Produce, review and update policies, proposals and operational plans and procedures (delivering them where required) relating to the realisation of all 17 UN sustainable development goals as they apply in a University setting 7. Act as an intelligent client in relation to the sustainability aspects of university operations, working with colleagues in Estates to ensure that our waste reduction reuse and recycling, biodiversity, sustainable food, water, transport and broader environmental management goals are fully realised 8. Oversee a large body of work involved in collecting and analysing sustainability performance data and ensuring that these are effectively and accurately reported in compelling annual sustainability reports, performance dashboards, external data returns and benchmarking submissions and that effective performance improvement plans are agreed annually. 9. This is an exciting opportunity to shape all aspects of sustainability policy (excluding the decarbonisation of our direct energy infrastructure and buildings, which will be led by the Senior Decarbonisation Manager) to achieve our vision of being one of the most sustainable universities in the world. Working directly to the Head of Sustainability you will develop policy and provide advice and guidance, as the lead subject matter expert on a broad range of sustainability policy areas including: a. Sustainable business travel b. Active and sustainable commuting c. Waste reduction reuse and recycling d. Sustainable food and agriculture e. Biodiversity net gain f. Student Experience and education g. Research practices h. Sustainable supply chain and investments You will also manage the work of the current Senior Data Analyst and Performance Officer, who is responsible for all data collation, assessment, analysis and reporting across all sustainability measurements incorporating all UN sustainable development goals. The role includes the production of our annual sustainability report, environmental management data and submissions to Sustainability related rankings. This is a dynamic and high profile role where you will be required to work under pressure delivering against a wide range of competing deadlines that are of the upmost institutional importance.
