Business Leader David Chubak Comes to Sy Syms

New Faculty at YU Forward-thinking, award-winning and dedicated: all are adjectives defining YU’s distinguished faculty. To that group YU is excited to welcome over 25 dynamic new faculty members—both undergraduate and graduate—for the 2023–2024 academic year. Among them is Dr. Honggang Wang , a renowned expert in artificial intelligence, digital health, 5G/6G communications, and cybersecurity, who will serve as founding chair of Computer Science and Engineering at the Katz School. The Sy Syms School of Business proudly welcomes David Chubak , currently the Head of Wealth Management at Edward Jones, as the new Chair of the Board of Overseers. Known for his transformative leadership in the business world, Chubak is set to guide Sy Syms towards a new era of excellence, building upon its recent successes. These achievements include record enrollment and an impressive post- graduation success rate, with over 97% of Sy Syms students securing employment or pursuing graduate education within six months of graduation. Faculty Research Awards Katz School of Science and Health has announced 11 new faculty research awards aimed at tackling diverse challenges in STEM and health sciences. These projects encompass the development of safer HIV treatment drugs, stroke rehabilitation exoskeletons, enhancements in elderly mental health and an exploration of financial crises. Katz School faculty will engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with industry and academic partners, including Stern College and Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. READ MORE

Counseling Center Staff Move Up YU’s Counseling Center is announcing new roles for two of its long-standing staff members, effective this fall. Dr. Didi Levy , who has been with the Counseling Center since 2019, is taking on the role of assistant director for the

Wilf Campus Center. Meanwhile, Dr. Debra Alper , who has worked as a therapist and supervisor for seven years at the Beren Campus location, will now serve as assistant director there. Dr. Martin Galla , the Center’s longtime associate director, is bidding farewell to YU as he pursues other opportunities at the beginning of the new semester. READ MORE
