BEST BARTENDER Lucy Morrison Gene's Beer Garden

Looking for a place to go where everyone knows your name? Then you should definitely check out Gene’s Beer Garden and get to know the woman, the myth, and the legend behind the bar for more than 20 years: Lucy Morrison. She’s been named the Best Bartender in town for the fourth time this year and has earned her spot in the hearts of locals one pint poured, and one name remembered, at a time. 461 Wilson Avenue, 304.292.1147,

BEST BARTENDER Gabby Tenney Sabraton Station A little snark, a lot of heart—that’s this first-time Best Bartender’s BOM- winning formula. A Fairmont native, Gabby Tenney started out behind the bar at Bent Willey’s. She also served up glasses of good cheer at Mountain Mama’s and Aquarium Lounge in Fairmont before landing at Sabraton Station a year and a half ago—accumulating regulars along the way. “I’m the kind of bartender you either love or hate,” Tenney says. “I’m very sarcastic, but I do my job well.” She likes to connect. That means remembering customers’ names, their drinks, a trip they were going to take or some other detail. It also means sharing about her own life, which, until recently, has been education: She received her MBA from Fairmont State in November 2021. But for now, you can still get to know Morgantown’s latest Best Bartender. “I don’t have a new job in the works yet,” she says. “I’m just kind of taking a break, enjoying not being in school for once.” 1632 Deckers Creek Boulevard, 304.381.4225, @sabratonstation on FB
