BEST HOTEL HotelMorgan This historic High Street hotel re-opened in 2021 restored to its former glory—circa 1925, when it first opened to the public and cemented its place as an iconic Morgantown property. The Thrash Group—based in Mississippi— bought the hotel for $2.5 million when it last went on the market and invested five times that on the major renovations. Each of the hotel’s 83 rooms and suites got a makeover, and the management opened a new coffee and cocktail bar, Anvil + Ax, on the ground floor. Plans are still in the works to open a rooftop bar and to re-open the property’s grand ballroom, which the management team hopes will once again
