HISTORY OF IDO WORLD TAP DANCE

30 years of IDO World Tap dance Championships

EXCEPTIONAL & OUTSTANDING Mr. László Bóbis from Hungary won the first gold medal ever in the IDO World Tap dance Championships in Hamburg, 1991 and again later in Dresdenin 1994. Afterwards he competed with his partner Mr. Arpad Pirovits as a duo. He went on to become a dance teacher and some of his students won the Small Group category. For many times they placed on medal levels and ALWAYS were in the finals when they competed. Side story - Russia To be able to compete, the Russian brothers Gennadiy and Aleksey Liahkov needed a paid performance. I arranged such a show with the German Autoclub who had a gala in another hall of the Congress Center. In the end, we had to wait with the finals because the Autoclub was late and they had not finished their performance.

Side story - USA The USA had sent a fabulous tap dancer, Ritchie, who was unfortunately too young to compete. To honour his great talent and the effort of the journey to compete, we worked out that he performed a show instead of competing. The audience loved him and went crazy and gave him Standing Ovations.
