30 years of IDO World Tap dance Championships
Side-story 1 The Canadian Tap dance Formation “Transformers” achieved the fifth place in the Finals. (Congratulations!). But they had to overcome a great misfortune: Due to a snow storm in Frankfurt, Germany flights were delayed and some baggage was sent somewhere in the world but not to Dresden Airport. Lufthansa searched for the bags thoroughly because they contained some smashing props and costumes of the Canadian show “Transformers”. - For the first round the formation had to buy “something” in Riesa. Then some bags were delivered and they had some additional equipment - and just minutes AFTER their final performance the great staff of the Mercure Hotel in Riesa called me at the stage praising “the last Canadian baggage has just arrived” . I answered “Too late ! They just have done their final”. The team was exceptional and made the best of the misfortune and finally placed fifth. Side-story 2 Two formations have been enrolled with the Titles “Romans”. Their show contained the Roman legionnaires and their enemies. Although both uniforms were different both teams fought with swords and shields. Both were excellent with plenty of ideas: Planet Dances Martin from Lausanne, Switzerland - choreographed by Fabrice Martin and The Art Act & tAp dAncer from Georgsmarienhütte in Germany, choreographed by Kerstin Albrecht. This was spectacular because the choreographers and the teams did not know from each other at all. “Germany” place 3 rd and “Switzerland” 4 th .
