HISTORY OF IDO WORLD TAP DANCE

30 years of IDO World Tap dance Championships

This is new in 2018 Similarly, to the IDO World Show Dance Championships we decided to shift the mc-work for the 4 days from two to four shoulders. The task was to find a natural English speaking and totally neutral IDO dance expert. Therefore, we asked a long-time friend and excellent colleague, Mr. Seamus Byrne from Gibraltar, from now on to share MCing the IDO World Tap Dance Championships with Michael Wendt. The good point is that Seamus also speaks Spanish as a mother tongue. Between 2000 and 2008, Seamus competed in Riesa annually as a show dancer in solos and duos. He knows “everything” about the stage, the performances and the atmosphere in the hall and has great feeling and passion about the dancers on stage. In 2011 Seamus became an IDO licensed judge. and in 2016 was elected as a member of the IDO-presidium - responsible for the public relations and social media. “It was very important for me to have a great dance expert with me on stage without belonging to any of the competing countries or cities - in other words to be so neutral and friendly to everybody as I have been since the beginning.” says Michael Wendt. Please also read about Seamus Byrne in Who-is-Who.
