HISTORY OF IDO WORLD TAP DANCE

30 years of IDO World Tap dance Championships

BUT  Judges in different countries surely have different opinions on the competitive tap dance. And secondly - after around 2005 - the talent of the top dancers at least in the semi-finals - and for sure in the finals have been so high and their talent is so close t o each other that “you need a bit of luck to reach the finals”. Not always you may find a dancer/formation who is obviously the winner for everybody. We had this some times in Riesa. But if the rounds are of quite similar high calibre one judge may place the dancers differently than the other colleagues. This is not the lack of the judges quality, but the dense skills and the different styles of the performances. And every tap dancer knows, how different tap dance can be - all over the world. Under the guidance of the first IDO-Adjudication Director, Mr. Jadran Živkovic , a famous tap dance choreographer from Slovenia and later under his his successor, Prof. Dr. Velibor Srdic from Bosnia- Herzegovina the IDO developed the system to educate international judges to a very successful level. Since 5 years IDO offers the “IDO -Online- Academy” where the national judges sent by the federations will be trained online with also final exams. “IDO Licensed Judges” can update their skills at the “IDO -Online- Academy” whene ver they want.

Let me add 5 very interesting charts by the Chairperson of the IDO Tap dance Committee, Mrs. Nancy Chippendale, in her outstanding Seminar about Tap dance and Judging tap dance:
