30 years of IDO World Tap dance Championships
Pavel Bartůňkových and Renata Bartůňková / Brno - Czech Republic Dance school R+P Dancers | Teachers | Choreographers |Studio owners
The name of the school, these are the initials of the names of the founders, Renata and Pavel Bartůňkových. Renata had a dream to start her dance school. her dream came true and that is why she left her job as a dance teacher, Pavel left the theater as an actor and in 1993 they founded their dream school. We started with tap dance at the JAMU university in 1978 with pedagogue Radek Balaš, a tap promoter in the Czech Republic. The beginnings were not easy. We taught dance for students from the age of 5 and also tap dance, which was not popular in the Czech Republic at the time, but we still included it in the program. After two years, we went to the first national competition, where we got to know the competition and the new tap technique. Since 1999, we have been regularly participating in the World Championships, where tap dancers are nominated and placed in the Czech Championships in winning positions. Our success at the World Championships was not immediate, but perseverance, diligence and the desire for victory brought over the years, the first medal placement, even the highest. Getting on OLYMP is very difficult and staying on it is even harder. However, we succeeded and we continued to win a lot of medals in the following years and received recognition from tap dancers from other countries. Our efforts ended in 2020 thanks to the global pandemic. Since the founding, many choreographers and trainers have taken turns at our school. They are all our former students and some of them are also current choreographers - Nikol a Kůrová, Adéla Zedníč ková, Petra Pašová, Michaela Čadová, Jana Kukulová, Eva Tejnilová, Kateřina Valentová, Kateřina Čadová, Martina Koneč ná, Tobiáš Košir, etc. Our daughter Kristýna Bobková, who first experienced all positions in the school as a student, pedagogue, chief choreographer, deputy principal, and now she continues to lead the school. R + P Brno has won 39 medals in all disciplines and categories since 2010. There are a lot of memories of the World Cup. The first is the arrival of IDO President Michael Wendt on the stage every morning (always in a good mood) and a welcome with the song „Good morning“, which will start with the daily tap dancing marathon. And also the amazing atmosphere when announcing medal placements with the song „We are the champions“. It's a huge force. We would like to express our great gratitude to the entire organization, both to the IDO President Michael Wendt, but also to the entire organizing team for the excellent conditions during the competition! Competitions affect us a lot. It is a year-round marathon, motivation, weekend trainings, training camps, costumes, performances. On the positive side, we are pushing the boundaries of performance for tap dancers, creating lifelong friendships and also a lot of experience in creating choreographies. teacher, choreographer not only has the task of training, but is also a secondary parent. Many thanks to all parents for their year-round support. Our teachers are people who started tap dancing in our school, competed and now run tap lessons themselves and create competition choreographies. They regularly take part in tap workshops, are educated and have the support of their management. All tap schools in Brno were founded by former students of our school. It spreads the fame of R + P Brno, even if under a different brand. And finally, we and our entire team thank you for the beautiful years spent with an amazing community of tap dancers from around the world.
