30 years of IDO World Tap dance Championships
FLORIAN BOWITZ / Seeheim-Jugenheim - Germany Dancer | Teacher | Choreographer
Florian Bowitz was born on January the 22nd 1994 in Seeheim-Jugenheim, Germany. He started off his dance career doing classical ballet at the age of four. Passionate about rhythm and movement, tap dance and jazz dance were soon added to his repertoire and formed the basis of his education in dance. As Florian grew up in a very rural area, far-off any great dance events or competitions, it was a huge change in his life when he first got in contact with national championships at the age of eleven. Inspired by all the creative work in choreography and rhythm, his passion for tap dance was growing day by day. When Florian qualified for the Tap Dance World Championships with his first own choreographed solo two years later, a whole new world was introduced to him.

Watching Daniel Borak, Oleksandr Ostanin and many others encouraged him to work harder to achieve his dreams, which he eventually did in 2018, winning the gold medal as a soloist. Furthermore, he won the silver medal in 2016 and competed in the finals several more times. Today, Florian leads a German Tap Company which was founded 6 years ago. From teaching soloists to formations, he is proud to present his choreographies in the finals of the adult category. Florian has traveled the world to train with a world class faculty, such as Sam Webber, Diane Walker, Anthony Morigerato, Jason Samuels Smiths, Derick Grant, Sarah Reich, Ruben Sanchez and many more. Florian can’t wait to be back at the IDO Tap Dance World Championships where tap dancers of all countries meet and connect in their own unique way!
