30 years of IDO World Tap dance Championships
Gloria Jean Cuming / New Haven - USA Studio owner | Organizer | Teacher | Choreographer | Team captain | IDO official IDO-Hall of Fame: “Choreographer of the year 2002” When I was first approached by Mr. Bill Fowler † to bring tap dance soloists to Germany to compete for a World Championship I had no idea it would turn into all these years of competing, judging, being part of hosting World Championships in the United States and Co-founding the United States Dance Sport Competition Federation. I had some wonderful experiences. Winning many Tap Dance World
Championship s was an honour as was being named “ Choreographer of the year 2002” by IDO. More importantly the friendships I have made that are still very close and dear to my heart were more than I ever expected. IDO has given the dancers of the United States the opportunity to represent their country and know what it is like to compete at a whole new level. I know the dancers that I had on the many teams still talk about the thrill of being on the podium and hearing their National Anthem. Thanks to IDO and especially my dear friend Michael Wendt for producing this wonderful competition for so many wonderful years.
