Accomplishments: -
Winner of Miss Majorette and Canadian Twirling Champion - Represented Canada at the Notre Dame University International Twirling Championships, where I shared the stage with pop singers The Carpenters and Bobby Vinton - Only Canadian to make the top 12 for the Ted Mack Award of Excellence given for community service as a volunteer and excellence in the arts - Created a Studio Dance Syllabus and Baton Exam Syllabus from Primary to Advance Level in the Performing Arts - Was a member of NBTA(National Baton Twirling Association) and judged coast to coast throughout North America - Judged many Dance competitions and Festivals - Was selected as Head dance choreographer for the Ontario Summer Games - Retired from teaching after 25 years of being a studio owner and director to pursue the creation of the Canadian National Dance Championships - Created an educational program on how to audition that I taught at various dance conventions - Was asked to be guest speaker at a Dance Expo regarding world dance competition. - Formed Team Canada Dance. Year 1 we had 12 dancers attend their 1 st IDO competition, now 21 years later we have taken over 300 dancers per year in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Street Dance Show, Show Dance and Hip Hop. - Students have gone on to pursue a career in the Performing Arts either as Dance Teachers or Performers. Students have won scholarships to the prestigious Debbie Allen School in LA. - Many of our Team Canada former dancers are now dancing on Broadway, Movies, previous members of Stomp and Tap Dogs, plus Judging and Teaching at International events. Over half our team performed in the Opening and closing ceremonies for the Olympics held in Vancouver. One former team dancer was the lead dancer and showcased a tap solo. - Was contacted by “ Americas Got Talent ” , to send talented Canadian dancers to their auditions Organization History: - Established and Organized the first National Dance Competition in Canada which brought dancers from coast to coast to qualify to represent Canada at the IDO World Tap Dance Championships in the mid 90’s in Dresden, - Organized the very first IDO Jazz and Ballet Championship in Toronto Canada - Served as IDO Ballet Chairperson to help establish and grow Ballet in IDO, once it was established and growing turned this position over to more qualified Ballet Professional. - Chaired Group on creating Hints of scoring Ballet, and Hints on Scoring Acrobatic Dance - Established the Commonwealth Cup Dance Championship and co-hosted it with Bev Wood so that dancers that could not afford to travel could experience an IDO level competition. - Created the North America World Dance Challenge to be held in Mexico with director Maga Domene, for the purpose of bringing IDO awareness to the Americas - IDO Ambassador for “The Americas” promoting IDO in North and South America and created a handbook for forming a National Organization and National Teams. - IDO Supervisor and Chairman of Judges.
