IDO Australia Performing Arts Directors, Julie and Wendy have been involved in IDO Championships and Licensed Events as Coaches since 2015 and in 2018 successfully qualified as IDO International Adjudicators. They have witnessed the Australian dancers competing at Riesa be inspired by their peers from around the world, and set and attain new goals from the shared confidence and sense of community gained from these experiences. As a dance educators and Co-Performing Arts Directors, their passion is introducing Australian dancers to the wonderful possibilities and opportunities IDO offers.

Julie is trained in Classical, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap, Modern and Character and began her professional career at the age of nine in a production at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre, and has performed and toured throughout Australia and Internationally ever since. Her credits include Countdown, The Don Lane Show, The Bert Newton Show, various ABC Series, The Logies, Team Unite Opening Ceremony for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Television Commercials, The Australian Girls Choir, ’La Traviata’ with Opera Victoria, Me lbourne International Arts Festival and has performed with Artists such as Ricky Martin, Peter Allen, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr and Elton John. She has toured extensively throughout South East Asia, North and South America, choreographed for Cruise Ships and Production Shows and spent 10 years in Europe

as a Dancer/Choreographer/Teacher. For the past 20 years Julie has taught ATOD, BBO, RAD, Cecchetti and SFD syllabi in Australia, coached competition teams, adjudicated dance competitions extensively along with being a Southern Federation of Dance Examiner and IDO Licensed Adjudicator

Wendy holds a Diploma of Dance Teaching and Management and a Graduate Diploma of Choreography from Melbourne University, VCA Campus. Prior to beginning her professional dance and teaching career, Wendy had the good fortune to study all genres of dance and performing arts from a very early age. This study was to continue into her adult years where she continued to develop and expand her knowledge under the guidance of some of Australia’s most renowned teachers, choreographers and directors. Wendy has twice travelled to Los Angeles and New York to study Jazz and Contemporary, and relished the opportunity to study with international artists and companies whenever they visited Australia.

Her professional dance career includes television highlights such as resident dancer for The Ernie Sigley Tonight Show, Bert Newton Midday Show and the Don Lane Show, as well as special events including Logies and Royal Command Performances and Olympic Prime Ministers Dinners. Wendy has also performed in theatrical productions, including Evita (Original production Australian tour) Iolanthe (Victorian Opera Company) and Red Hot and Rhonda (Crown Casino). Wendy performed and choreographed for the Ross Skiffington Grand Magic Company for over 15 years, as well as choreographing numerous corporate and Arts Council events. Wendy has had the wonderful opportunity to teach dance students of all ages in all styles of dance and performance arts in numerous respected dance schools within Victoria. She is an examiner for Southern Federation of Dance and has adjudicated extensively throughout Australia for over 30 years.
