HISTORY OF IDO WORLD TAP DANCE

30 years of IDO World Tap dance Championships

of fantasy or based on true-life experiences. The older I get, the more important it is for me that I can do and create what I like. I’ve had successes, my dancers have had their successes. Through my ‘train the trainer program’ for the current and future trainers/choreographers of the Penguin Tappers, I am so proud and humble to pass on my knowledge and skills, fingerprints and legend and I see this in their work and choreographies. They are already having huge success with many bronze, silver and gold medals in all age groups. Whilst most people know me because of my activities in the tap dance genre, the other half of my dancing soul belongs to ballet. Although I am no longer an active choreographer for the tap dance competition world, I am an active mentor and judge and will keep this role as long as possible, but I have some newfound perspectives in mentoring and coaching. After having been voted onto the board of Trustees for the Royal Academy of Dance, a new great opportunity for me to develop further has risen and this is a sign that my skills and contributions over the years have been recognized. I will stay active in the judging aspect for the IDO – this year 2021, the first time in show dance which is a huge recognition of my diversity in the world of performing arts.
