King's Business - 1962-04

Each student, through a nominal tuition charge, helps to pay his own way through school. The amount, however, is only approximately one-third of the cost of his training. The Board of Directors has desired to keep the cost to the student sufficiently low so that every deserving student will be able to receive the finest spiritual and academic training available at Biola. In the past five years, applications processed and pending for admission have risen 260 percent. A top enrollment of 2,000 is anticipated eventually, and at the present rate of increase, the student body will reach such a peak as early as 1966. The buildings already on the campus are free of debt, yet the erection of a structure is only the beginning of expenses. Unrestricted cash gifts and regular donations are urgently needed to meet rising costs for training and maintaining facilities for such an eager and deserving group of dedicated young men and women. The caliber of men who are reading this story, will realize readily the importance of a smoothly-operating business department. Due to a limitation of unrestricted gifts, necessary new and replacement equipment purchases have not been possible. Funds sufficient for this purpose are needed to complete a modernization of some of our business procedures for over-all effectiveness, efficiency, and economy. This dedicated ministry, which has been carried on for more than half a century, will appeal to the individual who is interested in preserving the basic concepts of a country which has as its theme, “One Nation Under God!”

In explaining how much it costs to rear us, our parents have said: *It actually takes more to keep the family together than it costs to build the house.’ Biola’s immediate needs are not only for buildings but also for necessary unrestricted funds to meet the regular operational costs.
