Through their dedication and dynamic implementation of Circles, our partners create safe, inclusive spaces where young people are inspired to grow, connect, and thrive.
I was in The Friendship Club growing up and know its impact on teens. I went to college to be a teacher because I wanted to do meaningful work with youth. When I moved back, I was offered an assistant position here while I applied for teaching jobs in my hometown. I’ve been here for 8 years and have moved up to Director! I have loved every minute of my career and my impact on these youth. Many I have watched grow up from 6th grade to graduate high school. What inspired you to start doing this meaningful work with youth, and what excites you most about being part of your organization? We provide youth a place to be, a purpose, routine, friendship, and family every week. Even when life gets hard, they know they can come to a loving environment with people caring about them. We also partner with hopelessness. How have you seen this play out in your programs, and how do your Circle programs support youth facing these challenges? The CDC reports a mental health crisis among youth, with 4 in 10 high schoolers experiencing persistent sadness or
One Circle Foundation has the most comprehensive, updated, and easy-to- follow curriculum for topics that matter to youth. It has been a game-changer for our organization! What else would you like to share with the One Circle Foundation community? Any insights, experiences, or messages that you think would resonate with them? Start small. It’s okay to read the lesson straight from the curriculum. It’s okay to be nervous. By the end, you will have built connections with the youth in your circle. You won’t want to say goodbye. Go for it. What’s one pro-tip you’d share with someone eager to start Circles in their programming? Any insider advice to help them make the most impact? other organizations in our community to be able to offer services like mental health connections for the youth and their families. We spend up to 7 years with these youth, and they know they can come to us with any need or concern and know that we will do everything we can to help them.
