JANEY LEE GRACE - THE SOBER CLUB

When you are questioning whether or not to drink and think you are missing out, know that you are only gaining and not losing anything. Think JOMO (Joy of Missing Out) not FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).

Career

Has your profession changed since you got sober? Tell me about your business and what you hope to achieve for women in recovery? I started a transformational coaching diploma a couple of months after ditching the booze and after qualifying went on to become a Sober Club Coach, so in addition to my day job, I am an Alcohol Free Wellbeing and Transformational Coach. My focus is on professional working women who see themselves as "normal drinkers" (fully functioning and have work, family and life responsibilities) but questioning their relationship with alcohol, potentially don't feel they are being their authentic self, are struggling with imposter syndrome or feel they are one of the only in the room and are looking to be more present and have clarity. I am keen to help these women thrive, reach their full potential and live their best life alcohol free! What does coaching-program- etc look like and what do you offer at Thrive Alcohol Free? My coaching program is based on my "THRIVE AF" method and it helps women: understand their relationship with alcohol; establish self-care and other new habits; adopt an alcohol free identity; set goals and focus on what next What does the future hold for Thrive Alcohol Free? I want to continue to share my story and help people through a podcast and plan on launching an online course to help a wider number of people. I'm excited to see what happens. What is your favourite quote in the sober world? "Keep the ritual, change the ingredients" Janey Lee Grace www.thrivealcoholfree.com

A new beginning for Dupe Witherick

Yes, I immersed myself in the alcohol-free world and The Sober Club became my go-to community Have you found meditation, podcasts, or books helpful in recovery? Yes, the Alcohol-Free Life Podcast, when I first decided to stop for 21 days, I stumbled across this and found myself devouring episodes early on in my alcohol-free journey and it made me realise that being alcohol-free could be normal! I've read a number of books along the way including "The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober", "The Sober Diaries", "This Naked Mind", "Happy Healthy Sober", "Quit Like A Woman" and "We Are The Luckiest" Can you recommend your favourite podcast/book/ in sobriety? "The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober" - This was the first quit lit that I read and it really resonated, who would have thought there would have been a such joy in not drinking and there really is! What was the last sober book you read? I think it's good to continue to read and immerse yourself in the alcohol- free community all along your journey. The last quit lit I read was "Quit Like a Woman" by Holly Whitaker Do you have any sober heroes/heroines? I couldn't believe how many celebrities were sober that I was unaware of and the number who said their careers took off and/or they started to win awards once they stopped drinking! I would say Anthony Hopkins who has been sober for 45 years but still makes a thing of it but so many others, as anyone who does this is inspiring, but I must also include our very own Janey Lee Grace! If there is someone reading this out there what would be your top sober tip for them?

What is your sober date? 9th November 2020 How long do you think you had a problem with alcohol before you took the decision to make the changes and do the work? I had gone off heavy red wine, which was my favourite tipple about a year and a half before and from then on, I realised I didn't seem to like alcohol as much. When COVID first started, I realised alcohol had become a habit and was something to relax but deep down I knew it was no longer serving me, so I said I'd stop for what was initially 21 days. What program did you use to reach freedom from alcohol? Twelve Step or Modern Recovery? Having discovered The Alcohol-Free Life Podcast, I joined The Sober Club towards the end of November 2020 and found community, and tools and did the 12-week course. Professionally has your sober decision had any consequences? It gave me clarity to realise I wasn't in the right place and be open to other opportunities, I then went on to land an amazing new role in a different company. Have you seen great changes within your relationships at home + work in sobriety? I feel I am more present and able to be my authentic self in all situations. What are your sober rituals daily? Morning routine: Spending time in the Word, exercise (running, body combat or strength training), breathing, and the morning pages (journalling) Evening routine: Gratitude List and Yoga

Do you have a home team (community) in sobriety?
