Indian Gaming Transfer Payments Fulfilling the legislative intent of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, Indian gaming directly transferred $18,663,451,089 in 2021, to their tribal governments for social programs and allocations to fund investment programs, such as economic development and land-buyback programs. Along with spending on social programs, these transfer payments paid for casino regulation, through its Tribal government gaming commissions, per capital payments to Tribal members, and allocating payments to state governments in the form of revenue sharing agreements.

These transfer payments to the tribe, and their overall contribution to the local, regional and national economy is similar in its magnitude, when compared to the goods and services purchased by the tribal gaming operations. As you can see below, these transfer payments and their spending in the economy has created 186,698 jobs, generated $13,156,409,203 in labor income, $18,501,774,039 in value added and had an overall economic output of $26,414,693,221 throughout the nation.
