Bal’s marathon fundraiser
Congratulations to Bal Hegedus- Pickvance who ran the London Marathon in aid of the Meningitis Research Fund. Bal’s time was 4 hours 3 minutes, which he’s keen to beat next time – possibly in Brighton next year. (Credit to Bal for even considering a next time!)
If you have a child, nephew, niece and/or grandchild who is a toddler, then you will have recently benefited from a new vaccine developed and introduced via the NHS by the Meningitis Research Fund (MRF). It's estimated that 1,000 people die from meningitis and septicaemia every day. Many more are left with life-long disabilities. MRF have invested over £17m in vital research and health interventions which aid diagnosis. MRF spend around £1m a year in the UK supporting those affected and providing free information to the public and healthcare professionals. Bal sends a huge ‘thank you’ to Project One and the team for their generosity in helping him to raise a massive £2,224, smashing his target of £2,000.
Sandbach Rugby tour Two years of planning culminated on 14th July when James Michell (son of Project One consultant, Philip Michell) joined other youngsters leaving for Sandbach school’s rugby tour of South West Canada and North West America. Sporting an extensive kit, sponsored by Project One, the tour took in the sights and games of local clubs; Langley Rugby Football Club, Chuckanut Bay Rugby Football Club, and the University of British Columbia, Cowichan RFC. In addition to playing four games, winning three and losing one (the latter by just five points), the tour party experienced white water rafting, whale watching and playing and watching baseball. James says, “I'd like to thank Project One for sponsoring not only me, but also our training tops and one of our playing strips. Hopefully it will be beneficial to Project One…and if it is, can Dad do the project in America…and can I tag along?”
