WGA Transport Capability Statement

Our Experience—Transport

Independent Design Verification and Independent Design Certification Crucial to any design, IDV and IDC validates design integrity by bringing in a third party to provide objective and unbiased evaluation of design. We understand the importance of verifying whether a design meets the intended function and performance requirements, whilst also complying relevant standards and regulations.

Stephenson Avenue—$255m CIVIL, GEOTECHNICAL, ITS, LIGHTING, PAVEMENTS AND STRUCTURAL WGA was engaged as the independent design verifier for the Stephenson Avenue Extension project for the S2M Alliance. The project consists of the extension of Stephenson Avenue over Mitchell Freeway northbound to Cedric Street. The new grade separated interchange includes entry and exit ramps to the freeway for both north and southbound traffic. This new connection will significantly improve safety and congestion in the area. Also included as part of the project is a new bus interchange overpass at Stirling Station. Both new bridges over the Mitchell Freeway are proposed as incrementally launched bridges to minimise traffic disruption. WGA was engaged to complete the verification of road geometry, road safety barriers, drainage, structures, geotechnical, pavement, electrical and Intelligent Transport Systems.

Mitchell Freeway Extension— $180m CIVIL, GEOTECHNICAL, LIGHTING AND STRUCTURAL WGA was engaged to provide independent verification for the road geometry, safety barriers, drainage, structures, geotechnical, electrical and Intelligent Transport Systems associated with the Mitchell Freeway Extension. The project consisted of an extension of the Mitchell Freeway from Hester Avenue to Romeo Road. The works included a grade separation at Lukin Drive and Butler Boulevard as well as connecting road works on Wanneroo Road and Romeo Road. Across the project, there are three new bridges and three underpass structures including interface with the Public Transport Authority’s railway infrastructure.

Regency Road to Pym Street— $354m CIVIL, GEOTECHNICAL, STRUCTURAL, TEMPORARY WORKS AND TRAFFIC The R2P Alliance engaged WGA to undertake the independent design certification role for the Regency Road to Pym Street Project, across all engineering disciplines, and included the overpass structures and temporary works for both overpass installations. Verification included structures, geotechnical matters, road design, stormwater management and drainage, pavements, lighting, traffic modelling, and major temporary works, including all temporary works associated with the self-propelled modular transporters used in the installation of the Regency Road Bridge. In addition, WGA undertook the road safety audits for the project.

High Street Upgrade— $100m GEOTECHNICAL, CIVIL AND STRUCTURAL

WGA provided independent verification for the design and construction required to upgrade High Street between Stirling Highway and Carrington Street in Fremantle. As part of the upgrade, the existing signalised intersection at Stirling Highway was upgraded to a dual lane roundabout, including left turn bypass lanes to help reduce congestion. A new service road parallel to High Street minimises access points onto the main road and relieves residential traffic on High Street. As independent verifiers for the project, WGA was engaged to complete verification of road geometry, safety barriers, drainage, structures, geotechnical and pavements, lighting and Intelligent Transport Systems.
