Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. How many times have you heard someone say these exact words to you? They may have said it when you first started exploring your professional career, were between jobs, or were unhappy with a current role. However, it’s not easy to turn your passion into a full- time job; if you do, you run the risk of souring one of your favorite activities. Without proper action, your passion could quickly become an obligation. Thankfully, this isn’t something I have that much experience with. For me, orthodontics is a career and a passion, and you’ll often find me researching ideas related to orthodontics whenever I have some free time! While I could go on and on about how much I love practicing orthodontics, one of the biggest reasons I enjoy my career so much is that there is so much to learn! The industry is ever-changing, and there’s always something new to learn regarding procedures that allow me to create great outcomes for my patients and technology to assist me in becoming more efficient in my role. Many benefits also come with orthodontic treatment. Some people believe orthodontists only concern themselves with keeping your teeth and mouth healthy, but our work actually helps your entire body run properly. As you can see, I have no shortage of things to research and learn about! You may think that researching technology, tools, and procedures related to your career is exhausting and borderline boring, but it’s incredibly fun and exciting for me. I regularly attend courses and classes on topics like how to treat sleep apnea better or new tools that could revolutionize the industry. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s more than worth my time if it means I can provide better services and treatment for my patients. ORTHODONTICS ISN’T JUST MY CAREER It’s My Calling and Passion

In celebration of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, Alborzi Orthodontics is offering a Parents Promotion. Learn more about this special financial promotion by calling our team today!

This does not come naturally to any of us. We have to study, research, and read about other leaders and how they found success with their businesses. The more I look into business management, the more I understand that it is a science in and of itself. Business management feels like a completely different world than the rest of my work, but it’s an incredibly necessary task. My efforts to learn as much as possible about orthodontics and helping patients is not necessarily self-serving. While it makes me better at my job, everything I do is at the service of others. I can’t treat myself, which means I make these efforts to help you, my patients. You can’t be an orthodontist if you don’t love people because it’s just as much a career about managing people as it is about managing teeth. Others may do this job because they do it passably well, but I’m here because I love to learn and want to help my patients live their best and happiest lives. While I enjoy riding motorcycles, skiing, hiking, and countless other activities, they don’t ignite my passion. Instead, I’m entirely passionate about orthodontics and helping others!

Not all my research is about the health aspect of my job. I’m also a business owner and have to know how to properly manage a business.

The Invisalign Advantage

Fast, Comfortable, and Reliable Results for a Perfect Smile

CONVENIENCE Invisalign aligners are removable. You can take them off whenever you need to eat, drink, or brush your teeth. While they still need to be in your mouth for the majority of the day and night, it’s still nice that you can continue enjoying your favorite meals without worrying about destroying your orthodontic appliance.

Before you start exploring the idea of orthodontic treatment for yourself or your children, you’ll likely do some research so you don’t walk in blind. While looking through Google and various websites, you’re sure to stumble upon some lesser-known options that claim to be more affordable and have faster results than traditional braces or even Invisalign. Some even say you never need to visit an orthodontist to straighten your teeth. Simply put, do not fall for their catchy slogans or unbelievable feats that can’t possibly be real. Your best path forward is to see an actual orthodontist so you can discover the best treatment options for your unique situation. In our office, nearly everyone is eligible for Invisalign, which has proven to be one of the best orthodontic treatment options out there.

Here are a few reasons why Invisalign outruns the pack.

INVISIBLE TO THE NAKED EYE When most people think about orthodontics, they imagine traditional braces with brackets and wires. Invisalign is a clear aligner made from clear, smooth plastic that’s virtually invisible when worn. You won’t have to worry about a drop in self- confidence with Invisalign! COMFORT Orthodontic treatment is not necessarily known as the most comfortable thing in the world, but Invisalign will have you questioning whether you’re even wearing aligners. They reduce your risk of mouth irritation or sores, and you don’t have to worry about any sharp edges.

EFFICIENT RESULTS Your Invisalign treatment plan will be

completely customized to meet your needs. Most patients complete their treatment within 12–18 months. Outcomes are more predictable due to the personalized treatment plan, regular monitoring, and advanced technology. So, if you’re ready to start orthodontic treatment, call our office today!

3 ALTERNATIVES TO KEEP YOUR GUMS HAPPY Flossing With Braces Doesn’t Have to Be a Nightmare

Flossing while wearing braces can be a daunting experience. You have to maneuver the floss around your wires and brackets, trying to get between every pair of teeth. After trying it a few times, you may feel like giving up, determined to return to the activity once you’ve finished your treatment. However, this is an extreme measure that will be counterproductive to your end result. Failing to floss regularly can open you up to cavities and gum disease.

look like needles with oversized eyes. You’ll need to thread the floss through the eye of the threader and poke the “needle” between your teeth. This makes it much easier to get above and below your wires, removing any lingering food particles or plaque. You can buy these in bulk from just about any convenience store. DENTAL TAPE After taking a break from flossing regularly, you’ll notice your gums are much more irritable and quick to bleed once you start flossing again. It takes time for our gums to grow accustomed to flossing, and if it’s becoming too painful, you should try dental tape. It’s made from a smooth, spongy material that softly glides between the gums. Be aware that you will have to use

it like traditional floss, so it may take some time to cover the whole mouth if you’re in orthodontic treatment. WATER FLOSSERS This is probably the most well-known option, but it is much more expensive than the other alternatives. A water flosser uses a steady stream of water instead of a string or ribbon. Some options even come with specialized tips designed specifically for cleaning around brackets and wires. While these options are great alternatives to regular floss, you can avoid them all by going with Invisalign over traditional braces. You can still floss just like you always have during your Invisalign treatment!

Here are a few strategies you can try if traditional flossing is proving too difficult.

FLOSS THREADERS Floss threaders are a unique product you’ve probably never heard of unless someone you know has tried them. They

A Journey Back in Time

southern shore of São Miguel, offers exceptional visibility of unique marine life, plus snorkeling, swimming, and cliff diving. ESCAPE TO THE AZORES

If a trek through timeless volcanic landscapes dotted with crater lakes, waterfalls, and hot springs, plus access to awe-inspiring marine life sounds inviting, the Azores may be the vacation spot for you! The Azores are an increasingly popular tourist destination, often called “the Hawaii of Europe” for their remote mid-ocean location and volcanic origins. The archipelago encompasses nine major islands 1,000 miles off the coast of Portugal and is one of the best whale-watching sites in the world. Visitors should plan their trip from the end of April to the beginning of May to view larger migratory species, such as the blue whale. The rocky shorelines of the Azores ascend as high as 7,713 feet atop the Ponta de Pico on the island of Pico. The islands’ untamed beauty offers plenty of outdoor activities, from kayaking to hiking. The climate is

subtropical, with year-round temperatures ranging from 57 to 71 degrees Fahrenheit. Religious festivals and traditional holidays abound on these predominantly Roman Catholic islands, an autonomous region of Portugal. Beyond that, however, the islands’ culture, dialect, and cuisine vary widely.

Wine lovers will enjoy the island of Pico, where vintners produce the islands’ complex volcanic wines. The Azores Wine Company offers tastings, tours, and overnight stays. The island of Santa Maria has the only white-sand beaches in the region. And Faial Island’s bountiful hydrangea gardens have earned it the nickname “The Blue Island.” Foodies will also enjoy famous local foods, including octopus stewed in wine, kale soup, fried mackerel, and fresh yogurt and cheeses. Taken together, the Azores have something to delight any traveler.

The largest island, São Miguel, is home to numerous hot springs and Europe’s only two tea plantations. An emblematic nature area, Sete Cidades, includes the famed Lagoa Azul (blue lagoon) and Lagoa Verde (green lagoon). Numerous healing hot springs in Furnas offer opportunities for wellness and relaxation seekers. Ilheu de Vila Franca, a flooded crater islet accessible from the
